Ok I got to call out the populist Trump types here and ask some questions.
1: You say that Elon's comment about giving every American 5000 dollars would not cause inflation and would not be a big deal, but republicans kept saying how the war in Ukraine was costing America to much money even though giving every American 5000 would cost more then America has spent on Ukraine the entire war.
2: How does America giving up on Ukraine benefit America ? ?Ukraine talked about a 500 billion dollar mineral deal meanwhile giving up would on America nothing and make all the previous money spent a waste.
3: Be honest why do you hate European countries so much ? The majority of Americans are European and even if you are not as an American Europe is your spiritual motherland. If you want to be able to keep up with China at a time when China is making inroads with other countries for deals you can't alienate your base, if you want to support Israel (I don't know why you would but the majority of Trump voters do) then you shouldn't alienate Europe t a time when more and more are getting stick of Israel and recognizing Palestinian state hood.
I'm more extreme than the populist trumpists but I have suitably extreme answers for you
1. It's essentially a tax refund for money saved, and I agree that may be somewhat inflationary. The thing is though, it's such an insignificant amount of money compared to bailouts and printing that its inflationary effect will be approximately %shit. I can throw that $5k in a suitable investment vehicle and it will far outstrip any fraction of a percentage point a couple hundred billion in tax refunds has.
2. This thread isn't about ukraine, fuck ukraine and russia, I care about my homeland and my people. I'm tired of the leftist media and leftist people like you pretending ukraine is this paragon of liberal western democracy and not just a mini-russia, full of corruption and bullshit. Don't sunk cost fallacy me about ukraine.
3. I don't hate them, I don't even think about them other than the occasional small piece of sadness I have over what has been lost to multiculturalism there, for instance the fact that I got to see paris and london before there were muslims and africans everywhere bumming and stabbing, but my children won't. Europeans hate me but they are irrelevant to me and have no bearing on my life.
I don’t need 5k in Trumpbux. If there is a surplus after he’s done gutting the government, I would argue that it should be invested back into the country in ways that will benefit us for generations to come.
I disagree on this part. I want all of my money back, but since I don't have it I'll take the $5k or whatever. I do not trust them to "invest it back into the country in ways that will benefit us for generations to come" because they haven't done that for my entire lifetime so why would they start now? Give me my money back, and
I will make it benefit
my family. I can do much more good for my children with a big tax refund than the government can. What are they gonna do? blow it on an overbudget missile for "national security?" Give it to israel and say it created defense sector jobs?
Everyone who gets the $5000 and spends it on something they always wanted or needed but couldn't get will think "THIS is how much of my money the government was wasting? What the fuck were they wasting it on? I'll NEVER vote again for any politician that wants to go back to wasting MY $5000 every year!"
Then when they hear on the news some government program wasted a trillion dollars, they'll think "How much of MY money did that just waste? How many new computers/car payments/apartment deposits of MINE was that worth?"
This is optimistic and I hope it is true that getting something back from the cuts makes the idea tangible, not abstract, and similar to how it's really hard to get something surrendered back, makes it harder for the government to get more money from taxpayers. But I think that's highly optimistic. Bureaucrats are exceedingly good at boiling the frog.
