I think the key to his life is what he said to Aaron (I think) in a rare moment of clarity: "It feels like all my life I've just been buyimg friends".
I’m sure that’s 100% true and his family suddenly coming into wealth while he was in college ensured it has been a problem his entire adult life…but it is one he chose.
One could, ofc, could refuse to take advantage of family wealth but that’s not realistic. What Nick did was choose to be the big (or rich) fish in a small bowl.
Nick also prefers having the leverage in a relationship. I don’t think he can tolerate situations, or relationships, where he doesn’t feel superior or in control of the dynamics. He wants to be the nice guy that everyone is indebted to or needs and must treat with deference. I think this is why he bailed out of Lawtube when suddenly the field widened and competition increased. If he couldn’t be the top dog he didn’t want to participate. His ass was chapped when others did well or didn’t require his patronage.
Most people with a certain level of wealth move to areas where they are among other people of a similar economic status. This helps there be a feeling of general equality with friends and neighbors. Therefore you don’t have the worries of someone being a friend only in hopes of financial benefit or need. The Reiketa’s were probably one of the wealthiest families that lived full time in Spicer. There are other wealthy families in the area, but most don’t live there full time.
In a small town you are known and people would have known the Rekieta family and been aware they had “means” well above the average, if Kayla’s family didn’t brag all over town about their daughters marrying an heir. Rekeita could have lived in Houston, a Minn suburb or a thousand other places were their affluence would never have been known or noticed. They could have been just another upper middle class family among many driving the mid-life crisis sports car and $80k Tahoe.
Nick wanted to be the big fish in a small bowl, but was then dissatisfied and paranoid ppl were nice to him because of his money. (Until they weren’t and called out his BS, money or not.)
Not really. He never did that. We looked up his actual litigation record and it reflected a solo with a trickle of clients.
I know KF was aware of his background but I’m talking his YT fanbase. He was “famous YT lawyer” to that crowd and they took him seriously. He might as well be Clarence Darrow to the general public, there is no discernment or bothering to look beyond the YT bio.
Honestly Nick turned me off early on because the whole Vic thing. He was obviously telling a bunch of people what they wanted to hear, not any legal reality. The pandering put me off and I didn’t pay much attention again until he got so big with the Depp trial and got normie YT fame…and I figured he was doing the same thing. Pandering to Depp fans this time instead of Vic fans.
Not for a lack of trying on his part, considering he still describes himself as a lawyer/ owner of a firm despite not being eligible to practice* and the firm not existing as an entity.

Basically getting a 3rd rate law degree and passing the bar is the height of Nick’s legal career. A “real lawyer” on YT agreed with my thinking/opinion” is all the general public on YT usually after and Nick could tech give them what they wanted. (Worthless) Validation from a real lawyer.
I think “Lawyer” will probably be engraved on his tombstone at this point.
