HL2 is a good game to play it doesn't mean I like their DEI shit in there too.
So what is the line between DEI and just having diversity for story and variety? Eli and Alyx fit the setting and feel grounded, Chell being Asian and Glados being female doesn't send any red flags, Demoman doesn't seem out of place in TF2.

Crenshaw actually on tape saying he'd kill Tucker like the tough boi he is (it's quiet but it's there):

Crenshaw's district is safe red, and also the place where the old men and women who still think Crenshaw's rootin' tootin' military apple pie BUT also think Tucker's great, this will help in the primary. The only worry is he might go full Kinzinger and be obstructionist faggot knowing he has no future.
This just goes to show being called a Neocon is fighting words among even those beyond the thunderdome. Careful... this thread is full of em!

It’s not really something you can boil down to a bulletpoint list, it’s moreso a gut feeling kind of thing.

If your game has a team of six scientists and four of them are black women who are absolutely brilliant, that’s DEI.

If your game has a team of six scientists who are the most brilliant people of their respective home countries (and happen to be diverse because of that fact) who came together to stop a calamity, that’s more natural.

First off, some people struggle with maintaining good interpersonal relationships due to autism (something all of us here are familiar with), BPD, etc., and simply might not have a good personal support network they can rely on.
If you have BPD, or some other mental disorder, you have an entirely different can of worms than the average person and probably need therapy for medication and basic functioning.

Autism is a completely different beast entirely and while there are people who have do have a mental disorder, there are many who do not. I am not getting into that autistic discussion here.

Secondly, the average close friend isn't qualified to deal with trauma.
Take the fucking piss, you faggot. Sure, severe trauma can ravage the brain. However, that water is something that has been long since pissed in. What a real psychiatrist considers trauma and what the average person you find on the street considers as trauma are not the fucking same and it's 1000% the fault of grifting therapists in the industry. Your average "close friend" can't deal with a person who was kidnapped and tortured and molested by a serial killer, sure. However, your close friend can absolutely help you deal with Daddy leaving for milk and never coming back. The problem is bad therapists have clung to this notion to gain clientele through years. They've completely redefined the notion of trauma to get more customers. "You have trauma. Everyone has trauma. Everyone has gone through traumatic experiences." You go to any college campus in the psych rooms, and that's all you'll ever hear parroted. Nobody is mentally healthy. Mentally healthy people don't make me money.

Having a therapist has also become trendy over the last 10 years for whatever reason amongst a certain crowd, so there are a lot of people signing up that don't actually need it. Additionally, many clients don't want to address their deeper issues and instead want to just keep talking about surface level nonsense that won't actually heal them as well, which is something my wife finds personally frustrating.
These are the people I largely have a problem with. It's not a coincidence having a therapist became trendy though and if you think it is, I have a bridge to sell you. It's a very flooded field with a lot of sunk cost fallacy. The thing people don't talk about; it's fucking expensive to become a therapist.

It's just a dumb "but what about X...?", just because HL2 is a good game to play it doesn't mean I like their DEI shit in there too.

Even then, you could change Eli and Alyx's skin colours and nothing would be different, they just happen to be black, is not like the game grinded to a halt to have a black woman lecture me about skin color or faggots.
You've been proven to be another fucking woke grifter non-gamer tourist in video game threads. Lurk moar and talk less about old games you retarded faggot.

Let me start by saying I know why on the surface it sounds like what im saying is wrong and misinformed and I appreciate the validity of your statement

Id encourage you to look into it a tiny bit but I can tell you from personal experience ALL electronics are vulnerable to rapid oscillations of a magnetic field. Its not the strength of the force persay its the changing polarity so fast it forms electricity where it shouldent and it shreds it on a near electron level.

I know SSDS or CFs are marketed as not being damaged by magnets but its simply not true, they just arent vulnerable in the same way as traditional spinning disks.
Fun fact: the electromagnetic pulse generated during a nuclear explosion is actually caused by the fluctuations of magnetic fields in the atmospheric molecules electrons.

This means that nuclear bombs used in space do NOT generate an EMP effect.

Most of a decade back it was a news item that the Norks had executed a dissident with an anti-aircraft cannon. The talking heads were droning on about how evil and barbaric it was, and I was just thinking to myself how it is probably one of the most humane ways of killing someone.
Not much brain left to think after a 35mm Oerlikon HE-T shell watermelons your head and everything in it in a hundredth of a second.
Bro they strap them to the front of zpus, that shit is actually pretty brutal.

I don't think there was any political drive behind the Vance's. Eli's Half Life 2 appearance is based off some random bum that lived outside the Valve office.
Eli is also meant to be one of the random NPC scientists who was in the control room when everything went to shit in HL1, who happened to have dark skin as part of the character model.

Quality characterization. DEI often takes shitty characters, and then tries to excuse their shitty characterization with their race or gender identity. If you have a likeable character who's black in a place and time that makes sense to have blacks in, nobody cares. Its when you start damaging the immersion of the universe with characters that just do not make sense that you start to have problems. The most common DEI character archetype you see these days is someone who is incredibly emotionally fragile, who also just so happens to have managed to train themselves to a peak level of physical or combative prowess, despite the fact that it takes a huge amount of emotional and mental fortitude to push through that kind of physical development.

It is amusing though that the usual root cause of a DEI character is some entitled racist creating a self insert of a better version of themselves into a setting, where they try and make up for their shortcomings while still being 'themselves', only to discover that their key character flaw was not their inability to kill people with their bare hands, but their absolutely toxic personalities.

I wouldn’t consider it humane when the method is chosen because it gratifies dear leader.

How it feels for the person being blasted apart by artillery isn’t part of the equation

Every time magnets get brought up I turn into

Its wild to me how little we understand about both magnetism and gravity despite them both making up fundamental building blocks of our reality.

Why do they work? No one knows.

I wonder if you put a nuke into a vacuum chamber on earth if we would see the same effect or if its proximity to own own natural magnetic fields would allow it to propagate "wirelessly" from the chamber

They can do all the OT and PT merchandising they want. Just let people forget the Disney era
yeah tbf when Star Tours first opened back in the 80s it was AFTER Ewoks and Droids had shit the bed
things were so desperate for merch that they had to stock the West End Games tabletop book and lead miniatures because there simply wasn't any Star Wars merch to stock
not "it was unpopular instances of the IP" or "it was sorta jank and Disney didn't want to stock it"
there was simply NOTHING to put in the store, that's how dire the circumstances were for Star Wars as an IP at the time

tbh I never played any of the halflifes, I mostly wandered off from gaming around the advent of 3d hardware accelerators

While a 37mm shell turns a person into watermelon jello, those 14.5s are gonna rip you new assholes all over, and I’m pretty sure they feel something.

He got paid around 4 billion for his IP. So, he doesn't need the money. Disney paid the fuck off amount to RDJ for Dr Doom so he may just quote a fuck off amount for trolling and see if it can repeat.
Lucas was paid mostly in stock options, not actual money. He's the largest single shareholder in Disney. Also it should be remembered that the state of Star Wars is his fault as he was the one who sold to Disney in the first place.

Edit: I forgot to mention that he also HANDPICKED Kathleen Kennedy to head Lucasfilms and made it a stipulation for the sale to Disney
