They would follow these artists that drew in a similar enough fashion but were still terrible, not because they liked their art, but they thought it was realistic they could eventually surpass them. It's pure narcissism.

What I’m gathering from this and what Axiom said, anyone that’s remotely nice to Alex, regardless of the context, he’ll interpret it as true friendship and begin humping your leg.
