Was reading about this and saw this list includes Z-40 and Z-42, who were former leaders of Los Zetas (Although there were rumours a little while back that Z-40 was still playing an active leadership role with CDN despite being in prison)
(CDN is The Los Zetas offshoot which is commanded by his family and based in Nuevo Laredo)
It's not uncommon to see cartel bosses still running their cartels from Mexican prison, but US extradition quickly puts an end to this. Which I guess is significant in this case because CDN own some of the most valuable border territory in the cartel world, and no doubt have been playing a major role in migrant smuggling as well as drug trafficking. It could be the start of CDN getting buttfucked
Z-40 is arguably the most violent and notorious cartel boss of all time (Z-42 is his brother who took over when he was captured, and a nasty piece of work also but Z-40 has a special infamy). Los Zetas were, at their core, a bunch of ex-special forces guys who defected and deserted to the Gulf Cartel, and so their leadership was heavily influenced by military training.
Z-40 was never in the military and joined the Zetas later on, but was able to rise to the top of the organization regardless by being a very action-orientated leader who was hyper-violent and would fearlessly throw himself into combat alongside his men. It was always said that he couldn't sleep at night unless he had killed someone that day. He is also said to be the guy who greenlit some of Los Zetas more notorious massacres like the Allende massacre and the San Fernando massacres. I read the book Wolf Boys (About two guys who worked under Z-40) and they said at one point Z-40 admitted to them he had killed over 800 people (At a relatively early time in his career)
Another name that stands out is El Cuini. This is a major coup for the US. He was the boss of Los Cuini's, who are known to be low-key the richest cartel in Mexico and also the main financial backers of CJNG (Currently a very powerful cartel with a lot of territory). There are other major names from CJNG included like El 85 and Tony Montana
La Kena and El Vaquero from the Gulf Cartel as well, plus some major Sinaloa guys
This is an intelligence goldmine for the US, they got a lot of heavy hitters. Not to mention they got El Mayo last year, who is like the biggest goldmine of cartel intelligence you could wish for
