I reckon a large part of his panic over his family being deposed was triggered by the possibility they might learn about the extent of his non-Mormon activities.

‘Flattery’ was his favourite for a while. The idiot seemed to think flattery was a good thing, and that women respond positively to obvious flattery. He either didn’t know or didn’t care that when freely admitting to trying to flatter someone, he was admitting to lying to them to gain positive attention.

I can pretty much guarantee his family knows about his favorite past time. As others have said, he was pretty open and blatant about his brothel trips when he was still posting on Facebook, and had plenty of family members and acquaintances who likely were in contact with members of his family on his FB friend list. I'm sure it's one of those things where they are aware of it, but choose to ignore it, like often happens with a family member who has an addiction. I think he was more afraid of his family finding out about his poor financial situation, deciding that he's no longer capable of living independently, and perhaps pushing for the courts to officially put them in charge of his affairs and forcing him to move back to Wyoming where they could keep a close eye on him. Or perhaps even putting him in some kind of group home or psych facility. That would put an end to him ever being able to visit a brothel again.
