Caeseropapism is a common issue in Orthodoxy. We even have a meme for it.

Like the protestants they chose schism from the one true Church, and God gives us what we choose, so they get more schism, just to a significantly lesser degree than the protestants since they still hold valid sacraments and mostly correct theology.

In both cases the root cause of the schism was pride, but for different reasons. The pride of the protestants is their belief that they have it right and everyone else is wrong, so they see further schism amongst themselves for this same reason. The pride of the Orthodox is their belief that they do not need a first among equals to maintain unity. This leaves them susceptible to caeseropapism and causes further schisms on geopolitical lines.
