Instead of tax dollars going to single mothers as a payday, I would rather tax dollars go to programs like this. I'd rather spend tax dollars funding police to keep gangs out. I'd rather spend tax dollars on youth programs and communities. Things that improve people's lives and keep communities safe. That's what tax dollars are supposed to be for. Not for Tyrese's sperm spawn.
I should've said this sooner, but my other big crux is these single moms get permanent paydays. In other countries that is not a thing. You have to pay welfare BACK. You are liable for what you borrow from the government. We do not do that in America for whatever ass backwards reason. I would have absolutely no problem with checks going out to single mothers if it meant they were someday going to be liable to reimburse the government that money. But they don't. Not even a percentile of it has to be paid back. It's nothing but free gibs.
Late but please keep in mind that the center I work with is ran and funded by a church, not federal tax dollars.
The churches are stepping in where the government won’t on this, they’ll happily pay for planned parenthood but not centers that help women realize they have more options and resources to raise unexpected pregnancies.
We’re the ones that partner with other religious organizations to provide parenting classes, it’s not through WIC.
We have a few partners churches that donate not just resources and volunteers, but whole storefronts and properties to operate out of.
Yeah your tax dollars should go to resources instead of gibs, but through Christ we’re able to fill in where the government won’t.
Obligatory contact your local religious run pregnancy crisis center today and ask if they need any physical donations or cash donations to provide what they need to expecting mothers, it’s more than just diapers.
Things like a pack and play are more needed than cribs because they’re portable and cheaper, parenting classes help these women understand proper nutrition and developmental milestones and even simple things like having the baby sleep in a pack n play instead of sleeping in with adults in an adult bed.
Not smoking inside where babies and children live.
And yes.
A lot of you I’m sure would be upset if you knew the demographics of a lot of the women who come in, and yes the overwhelming majority already have children.
But the problem exists regardless, we’re here to help these women purely for the children.
Even if you don’t want to help Dontavious or Tyrone, unless you straight want him murdered before birth this is where we’re at.
