He's partly right, America did seriously dick over the British and French empires to enrich itself. thus emerging as the new global power post ww2. The difference is I don't believe Europe is entitled to the protection of the US, we live in a unique time in history where nation states are artificially propped up for the sake of it when throughout the entire course of human history nations would collapse if they were not strong enough. Just as competing animals and species would die off if they had not adapted correctly so too do nations wither and die if they are not strong or adaptive enough.

I can understand that, but this seems to go beyond that.

If it was just an investment in the war then it should be fairly obvious that pissing off Trump is not a good tactical decision.

However what I'm witnessing is a full court press on the notion that Trump is an unhinged moron and Zelensky can do no wrong, which is why I seek to understand what drove them to this level of devotion to Zelensky.

This is a small brain take on my part, but from Day 1 I’ve taken all of this as just being a proxy war for them against their own delusions about Trump.

They (leadership and rank and file alike) bought so hard into the Trump-Russian-puppet narrative that they radicalized into rabid Russophobes. There’s no fondness for Ukraine as such. Ukraine is just a way to strike at Russia to strike at Trump, because they sincerely believe Trump is a Russian agent.
