On the topic of Achievement Hunters collapse, it’s still crazy to me that they hired Andrew Blanchard. From my memory listening to the internet box back in the day he had no applicable skills other than being friends with Michael.

He knew enough about video editing to keep his job for several years, and was entertaining enough that people liked him in the few videos he was in. And I know when he visited the RT offices before he got hired, he made friends with other people there. I'm not really sure why he wasn't in more videos, they could have done something like Play Pals with him and Michael, or maybe had Andy with Michael and Gavin in a couple of videos.

The funny thing was when he moved to Austin, he didn't even consider working for RT, he was going to job hunt after moving in with Michael and Lindsay. Michael was the one who said "just come work for AH" when Andy said that.

That’s admittedly what’s always killed me about Squad Team Force, which was their attempt to break out into Tiktok. You had Gus, Barb, and I think Pissbear? Trying to make these unfunny tiktok videos and failing to understand what actually draws content.

Unironically, if they just took snippets of old podcast and videos that were actually funny, or hell, “motivating”, and shoved them onto TikTok it would be wildly more successful then whatever the fuck Squad Team Force was. I notice that old content seems to be what drives short form content like TikTok or fucking YouTube shorts these days.

The only notable video I remember with Andy was the mini golf Let's Play, where they spent the whole time shitting on him for being a disgusting little goblin. The other issue was that they ran out of stories quickly. Episodes with different people on tended to be better just because they had new stuff to talk about and different perspectives. There was a recurring thing where Gavin would be busy with AH stuff and needed to abandon a Let's Play to go do the podcast. After the second or third time, why not get someone else on?
