Retard nigger, we pay farmers $40 billion per year to NOT farm their land. It’s called the “conservation reserve program.”

What’s planted is based on what sells and what there’s a market for. Farmers like to make money, not to have a state controlled scheme that tells them what they are allowed to farm with price fixing.

If we put tariffs, then we can idk, NOT pay $40 billion to farmers to entice them to leave their fields fallow, and we’ll be fine

There is even the FDR shit that forced farmers to not be allowed to grow wheat even if they never planned to sell it because of his fucking New Deal centralization shit.

I want to see Trump enact Total New Deal Death. Fortnite dance on top of that cripple's grave for good measure.

The US Farming industry produces a shitload of corn because of FDR giving subsides instead of it being actually good to sell. It's why High Fructose Corn Syrup is everywhere: the fed literally pays to make it cheap.

The USA needs to massively deregulate and liberalize the farming sector, like what New Zealand did in the 1980s.

So what's the former almost Mrs president Harris up to these days? Has she found any work at the same level of being a presidential candidate or VP?

Vance's shitposting is going to win him the 2028 election.

Punished Vance

Born to dilly dally, forced to lock in

If it's not the shitposting it's gonna be the shitposting about him.

Fucking masterful piece of art. It's beautiful.

Between the stupid propeller hat and the couch fucking thing, his meme and shitpost stock value has a lot of potential. Someone to keep an eye on, especially so for the ladies envious of Usha Vance out there. Hubba hubba.

I bought the dip last week when dipshit Jr. told me to and lost $400. There’s no point in buying a dip if it doesn’t go back up.
What sort of idiot retail investor tries to turn a profit on week-to-week performance? Even if there was an increase, the short term capital gains tax would rape a huge chunk of it away.

He does have a commanding presence.

I fully support strengthening the US agricultural sector, but sudden tariffs will not achieve this.
If you're referring to the reciprocal tariffs, they were not sudden. Trump and his administration have been stating they're going through with the reciprocal tariffs as far back as the beginning of February, with a deadline around April. The only tariffs that were sudden, however, was the one placed on Mexico and Canada for a day. Then, there was the deadline given to strengthen the borders. Although I agree with the fact that tariffs are not a good for long term sustainability (because just like taxing the rich, it inevitably falls back onto the individual), we at least know these will be lifted whenever the other places placing tariffs onto the US lift theirs. It seems to be a bargaining chip more than anything to increase agricultural deals.

On the topic of the 20% that we import from other countries, does anyone have the specifics of that 20%? I'm just curious as to what we import in general.

I do worry that tariffs will drive industry back to the US only for it to shut down because unaddressed union bullshit/regulation/etc makes it unprofitable. While the global race to the bottom for labor prices definitely contributed to driving industry out of the US, I do think a lot of it came from stuff that tariffs don't address.

Didn't I make the same point? You are self sufficient by raw numbers, but much of that production is meant for livestock, not humans. You cannot keep a healthy and happy population on corn, soy and beets alone, especially if half of it is inedible. California alone cannot sustain the demand for fruits, vegetables and other agricultural goods. I for one don't want to live solely off corn cobs and an occasional apple as a luxurious treat.
I will eat the beef
I will eat the cheese
I will drink the milk
I will mog Chinks and their soy diet.

Two months is sudden for the agricultural sector.

Not only was it a failure, Tim Walz's presence on the campaign trail was so unsubstantial that a bulk of the Kamala Harris campaign signs in my area didn't even MENTION Tim Walz. What fucking presence does he have outside of measly blue pocket?
Tim wasn't just unsubstantial, he was an active detriment. Tim is so bad at public speaking he lost a 1v3 debate against Vance and had some of the worst gaffes in debate history.

I’ve heard that this was made worse by ethanol being advertised to replace gasoline, so farmers made a ton of corn to sell until it turned out that you can’t use ethanol very well, so America was stuck with a shitload of corn and farmers that bought all the equipment to grow and harvest it.
