Ooof. Jesus.
It's over for leafs. Trudoh is invoking globohomo.

>The rules based international order
>The values of the United Nations
Well, they can get out from our umbrella and ask the UN and the rules based international order to provide for their defense.

Now we have a few thousand square miles of trees to harvest so our reaper drones can have a clear shot.

My wife’s been dreaming of moving up to Berlin. Maybe they’ll finally reopen the paper mill.

HOLY SHIT STOP!

Everyone has an opinion but not everyone is informed in the fucking slightest. The IMPORTER pays the tariff, NOT the CUSTOMER. I’m so fucking sick of this complete misconception. And anyway, let’s say the price was pushed onto the costumer. The amount of jobs that would be moved here domestically would far outweigh any sort of hypothetical price of goods in the long run. Think forwardly.

And also adding taxes into the mix, if we removed sales tax in favor of a tariff cost that would be far more favorable in the long-run. Less taxes = more money saved.
To be fair you can’t do everything domestically, especially not at the same price point global supply chains offer. Not every material is available domestically, not every crop can be grown in America. So unless you want to people to pay more or cut worker benefits/wages, you’re gonna need some kind of outsourcing to keep things profitable, and even then you still can’t get rare earths from Wisconsin. I guess you can depend solely on local timber for your wood, but then you just deforested your own country. Seems like a bad swap to me. Resources are finite, exploiting only domestic resources eventually leaves you depleted.

Quoted this because it needs to be repeated. How did we end up with so many people who don't understand simple things or have a scintilla of intellectual curiosity or forward thinking to take a breath and go, oh, wow, this might be a good thing. It's just oh no, not my coffee/funkos/doritos costing more!

It also bears repeating that the economy has been in a recession since 2020 and the numbers have been fudged to the gods so Biden didn't look bad. Everyone wants prices to go down and immigration slowed and criminals cast out and housing to be affordable again and the job market to get better and for kids to stop being indoctrinated and for our money to stop being thrown away and for DEI to go away...but every attempt at making that happen is met with, "No, don't do it that way! I don't like when it's done that way!"

Not saying Trump et.al. shouldn't be criticized (they should when need be) but at least be informed about what they're doing and apply it to more than five minutes into the future.

Still reading…
EPA blown the fuck out for overreaching. Supreme Court says the EPA can’t place additional restrictions on the treatment plant based on the quality of the receiving body of water such as the SF Bay. They said that if the treatment plant has already followed all of the EPA’s rules then there’s no need to ding the treatment plant or its permits because the Bay has additional pollutants.

The responsibility of the Bay’s health and a plan to bring pollutants down in the Bay falls on the EPA. The EPA will need to produce a plan to bring pollutants down on their dime.

Government overreach blown the fuck out. (Even though it’s against SF. Small victories.)

Dude, we never recovered from 2008. We got close with Trump's first term and then the powers that be shilled COVID. They do not care about the economy or about the harm they inflict upon regular human beings. These people believe they are the masters of the universe and do not care how many eggs they have to crack to make their special snowflake omelet that's never been really tried before.

And to have JD "Couch Rider" Vance institute a Fatwa against Democrats, who may or not be involved, triggering Civil War 2: Autistic Boogaloo?

Please don't, I am afraid of things truly happening, for when they do it's never a good thing.
Actually, I think Vance will reverse Trump's actions and gain the approval of the right and left. I mean he was in drag and has a transgender friend. Don't believe me...well take a look at this:

I am just saying, Vance is doing it as an act.

We are a market. Many people want to sell things.

The flip side is some countries run on overproduction and need people to buy the shit they make. This is a continuous problem of China’s.

Consider that in China, a Chinese person could expect to pay $15,000 for a new Nissan Sentra, while in the US we’d be expected to pay $25,000

welcome to tarrif day

Serious question guys. Tarrifs on China I get but why Mexico and Canada? Most goods go back and forth across the two borders constantly before finishing in the USA. Furthermore Mexico and Canada are major agro partners. what's the goal here? It seems like a sledgehammer is being used when a scalpel could be better.
