Nevermind producing more, the bigger problem is many of these brands are struggling to find the skilled labor required to produce these sorts of shoes. Maine used to have a huge shoemaking industry that has all but shrunken to a handful of struggling brands due to lack of labor and lack of demand. Who’s going to magically solve this problem? You?

Quality shoes have always been expensive. The material required for them is expensive, the skilled labor costs are high, and it doesn’t benefit from any major economies of scale because of how niche it is. If you think you have the solutions to these problems, feel free to go and revolutionize the shoemaking industry on your own.
did people forget training exists or something?

Could trump crush Canadas economy so hard they can’t fund their “free” healthcare. it would take away the one thing canadians brag about.
or will they print money like Zimbabwe to try and maintain it.
if I were a Canadian Dr in that situation I’d just move to America and get paid more.
They talked about making the money printer go brrrrr a couple months ago in regards to the initial 25% plan (it's 50% now).
I think they're super fucked.

Maybe they'll get smart and realize that reciprocal tariffs go down too and will try to play with that to lower some heat which will help solve the trade deficit issue that Trump complains about but Trump will just continue to demand them to do something about the pajeet illegals and chink drugs and pajeets smuggling them in, which they won't, and he'll just bring the 25% tariffs back anyway.

Not made in the US, but aren't Chinese/slave labor, Jim Green's line is a phenomenal value for a stitched down boot.

If you’re looking outside of the US, southern Europe (Spain and parts of Italy) have great value to be found as far as GYW shoes go. Of course, they’re still not going to be $50 like this retard is demanding.

They create a system which seeks to circumvent them
Any tax or penalty creates an incentive to not pay it. I asked and am asking again: do you think tariffs are impossible to enforce?
tariffs are a sledgehammer. they're good for some things but not for everything.
I disagree. Tariffs should be the default between nations.
not sure if you are disagreeing here.
I was agreeing. No sarcasm was intended. Foreign citizens should not be able to own land (I would include other things also).
It used to be that we would use a the Sherman antitrust act to break up monopolies whenever they got too big and prevented innovation. we did this to standard oil. we did this to Bell telephone. we tried to do this to Microsoft and failed. right now you have four companies essentially that control the entire internet that should not exist. don't get me started on patents because I believe that Congress needs to pass a law to stop and reverse the damage that Disney has done. however, I don't see the Democrats talking about this and I don't see Trump talking about this.
Relying upon somebody like ol' trust bustin' Teddy Roosevelt is not a sustainable system. I wouldn't shed a tear if Trump started bustin'.

Disney was instrumental in extending copyrights Thankfully they didn't get another extention and Steamboat Willie is now in the Public Domain. Patents are what Big Pharma and Big Ag use to monopolies food and medicine. Planned Obsolescence (products breaking prematurely) also depends on patents, because otherwise competitors would tweek the design to not break and convert customers.
well that's just capitalism. but I believe in kanisan economics. under a capitalistic system, the government should ensure free trade exists. however, every time we have these regulatory barriers in place, the Republican party keeps removing them because they keep siding with business.
Artificial government granted monopolies are not "just capitalism". I am not Keynesian. Truely "free trade" is a libertarian flavored mythology.
remember our media was prevented by regulation to be consolidated. Reagan removed that, and now all our media is owned by three companies.
Media monopolies depend on the government granted artificial monopoly of copyright. Also, the illusion that the news used to be more truthful because it was less consolidated isn't true. Walter Cronkite was a mouthpiece of the establishment. The customers for news are advertisers and propogandists and the news agencies act as their lackies.
Ending fractional banking would be a very dramatic change. It would end modern banking as we know it. I think modern banking should end, because it is a usurious plague orchestrated by criminals. Somewhat off topic for this thread.

Trump has some kind of plans for banking, but I don't fully know yet.
but that would require Congress to do its job
Congress deligated tariff powers to the executive. Trump should absolutely use that power to set things right. If the MAGA movement continues, then MAGA Congress can make more permanent changes.
it's hard to establish a business when you don't know within 4 years if some regulatory reaction will exist or won't, especially when it comes to Major regulations.
Green New Deal, Pandemic lockdowns, DEI, etc, etc.

I will happily take Trump. Build America for America. If some dickhead comes in and undoes that, then fight back like your life depends on it.
The entire US immigration system needs to be burned down and rebuilt. we have two few judges too for you enforcers the laws are just taped together and they don't make any sense in the modern day. I'm not against deporting illegals I'm not against having immigration laws. I actually support them. I just think we need to completely change everything.
You just said you wanted companies to be punished for hiring illegals. I pointed out it is already against the law to hire illegels. Now you throw your hands up and act like the whole things is "just too much".

Bullshit. Too fee judges, bullshit. Laws "don't make any sense", bullshit.

If the will of the people, and the will of their leader wanted to, shit would get done FAST. You can see that with Trump2.0.

We don't have to fuck around waiting and waiting for Congress. We don't have to get flabbergasted and whine that the immigration system is too disorganized. Bunch of do-nothing doomer cope and sneed.

I will say that I'm worried about Trump's plan to start taxing American food exports in April.

I understand why he wants to do this, he wants to make exporting food less economic than selling it to Americans for cheaper, but I don't think this is going to end well, I'm afraid it's going to cause out agriculture sector to start suffering mass bankruptcies. Domestic food prices would fall which is great for most Americans but I'm worried about our long term farming sector.

The only way that works is if you increase benefits and subsidies for American farmers so that they can survive being forced to sell to a less profitable market.
Woah slow down their partner. I thought tariffs were paid but the importers. That increased cost is chinas problem.

That's besides the point. I think the protestors should be killed, but you won't ever see me calling for them to be silenced by the government.
Many times Republicans have been mocked for always saying "imagine if the roles were reversed", well, we don't have to imagine anymore.

Don't forget these are the retards who want you dead and buried.

I understand American goods will always be more expensive due to labor laws (aka not using slave labor) but as a budget conscious consumer I'm willing to eat that extra price if the quality makes up for it. For example I bought those made in USA new balance and they're sturdier and last longer than any Chinese crap I've ever had to buy. Sure they're a bit more but the price is worth it. Places like harbor freight really show the insane mark up for shitty Chinese made junk (I know they own their own labels and are private but the point still stands).
The funny thing here with Harbor Freight, is that their premium brand (Icon) actually has some american made stuff in its catalog too.
