Monster Hunter Wilds

Will you play it at launch?

It’s a pretty fun weapon. I like autistically launching myself into the air and then slicing monsters midair.
I don't mean it as a bad thing, I just remember seeing a lot of doom posts about the glaive after the first beta but it seems so easy to just tell a monster to fuck itself while you zip around in the air.

It's not that old, it was this time 2021. Two years of vanilla, two years of Sunbreak(and I don't think alot of people played that long in either since they were so critical of wirebugs n sheeiiit). I suspect they pulled the DRM eventually because it runs painlessly for me on a pretty old card.
They literally added another layer of DRM to the game in 2023 thereabouts.

Pure unadulterated horn.

Edit; on a other note I witnessed a Japanese player get to HR 999 in 131 ingame hours and about 2500 hunts. They really nerfed the grind.

I went from "hell yeah Hunting Horn" to pure disgust at your edit. Removing the grind from Monster Hunter this hard is blasphemy. I refuse to believe anyone who thinks this is a good MH game is an actual MH fan and is just a niggercattle larping as one. If you like it that's one thing, but anyone willing to defend this game as "good" is a normie slop guzzler.

"Less waitin, more baitin!"- Angler Kanya

I've enjoyed her enthusiasm for fishing more than the Angler from World by a good deal, but she didn't really push you to catch much of anything. Catching a Whopper was the most difficult one because of the whack camera angle for fishing and the new controls. Fun character though.
I've also done all the endemic life quests I've gotten, and much prefer the autistic goof in World over the Wyverian nerds roping you into a competition. The final one was actually super easy because the thing ended up running right to me lol. I do, so far, like the endemic life in Wilds more. But the lack of a place to clutter with my kidnapped critters, and fish makes them useless. -20/10

Guess the only real thing to do now is farm up the rest of the sets for layered armor and maybe start screwing with the other weapons. I dont care for the artian weapons, until we can layer them anyway, and I've been super lucky with the Decos I've gotten. Charms don't much interest me, except maybe ear plugs. But you can just roll through roars anyway so it's a comfort thing like EE/EW or Grinder.

Probably because it's significantly easier, a stiff breeze can kill a monster from what I can see. That wizard cat is adorable though.
Mons need more health for sure. Arkveld(both) and Gore are the only ones, Tempered or not, that I've found to be genuinely tough. But Gore has always been a thorn in my ass because he's scary.

Some of the skills are completely bugged out as well, supposedly skills either don't work or only work half the time on the poor Swaxe, including Rapid Morph, you know THE Swaxe skill?
Game needed to cook for a bit longer at the very fucking least, endgame builds are all the same (Weakness Exploit/Maximum Might/Agitator + A shitton of Raw + Corrupted Mantle) because of two things: The shitty split between Armor and Weapon skills, plus the half the skills either not working or lying to your face. (Antivirus says it gives you 15% affinity, it gives you fucking 10).

I was really enjoying the game but homogenization and castration of builds hit me like a truck at the end.

Treating MH like this is heinous.
I never expected MH of all things to end up as a buggy mess but here we are, just another symptom of current year it seems.
The worst the older games had was AI bugging out (Worst I remember was running into walls), there was never anything that straight up made skills not work.

Honestly, the homogenization of skills legitimately makes me not want to play anymore, having one set (with a few swapped pieces here and there) be the best possible thing for every weapon is legitimately the most mindnumbing shit, the other armor skills are all borderline useless, bugged, boring or way too conditional to use. I really enjoyed unique playstyles like Negative Crit or Punishing Draw, but now it geniunely feels like they did the bare minimum they could get away with.

Isn't this every "latest entry in the series" ever?
World's was back to form, absolutely, but even then I saw a lot of "back in my day!"and so on.
No need to overly glaze anything but, I kinda feel there's always this initial time period when we get the "latest entry of X" where people gonna compare it to the titles they already love. Also the same titles they have played for countless of hours and have nostalgia tied to them.

Like I said, I don't even get that the story is a discussion. If you were to ask me the story of Worlds I would answer "big dragon mean. Hunt dragon, kill!" also some people stood around a table and talked about something.
What is do remember is playing with a friend hunting for a Kushala and playing the floor is lava while missing every strike because "muh flair".
or getting the ADORABLE Ishvalda set for my cat.

If you like the monsters and you like hunting the monsters I wanna say it again good monster hunter game. Sure, it's not that easy but people are making it too damn complicated instead of just enjoying a cool game about killing dragons.

Part 2.
I'm now done with the game and the "story" was over in no time. That was a shame but we all know that doesent mean it's over.
I was just surprised when the end boss showed up because I tought (for some dumb reason) that would be the start of act 2/3 and we would have a even bigger threat.
Instead now It's the whole "trying to save the eco system" with my hunter being a fucking T-Infinity with "kill on sight" as the only option. Like what lol

I think we gonna get the things we miss (like rooms) either in the big dlc or as a small paid one. Maybe as a update so they can play "good guy".
Neither is a good option but just my guess.
You hear the MH language in the background in camp. Olivia speaks it with her cat. It's faint but it's there.

A lot of the good stuff came late dlc game last time (change colour of your Armour for exampel) but what really gets me is that I don't have the cat cantina. I know it's more "OGMH" to cook yourself but fuck me, I loved their little cutscenes and their little outfits scurrying down the stairs with my food.

I tought people were a bit "git gudish" at first when complaining about difficulty but you're right. Every time i carted was because I lost focus due to reaching for candy mid fight (irl) or something else equally stupid because I just didn't pay attention to my health bar (because why would I) or trying out stupid shit mid fight (again with the flair).
I played solo, with friends and with lobby and pretty much all mustakes are salvageable.
The dino is a instant heal button and only the last boss (and the fish one) had those pesky AOEs (still, seen them before so not undoable).
I'm not saying every monster should be Alatreon level but what's the point if I dont feel i need to fine tune my load out?

Imma keep playing because I still enjoy the game because killing monsters but I feel a bit more underwhelmed now than I did a few days ago.

I know that is mostly focused in DPS skills. But I'm pretty sure Guard is also bugged in some way. There's very minimal effect between having no points in Guard at all and having full Guard 3.
Also has anyone found a single attack in the whole game that requires Guard Up to block? There are few big attacks like Jin Dahaad nuke that cannot be blocked even with Guard Up. But so far I personally haven't found a single attack that goes through the normal block but can be blocked with Guard Up.
This is all with a Lance btw.

People would complain about some of the system or weapon changes, but World is the start of the big divide as that was when they decided to focus on graphics, story, mass appeal, more realistic art style, and casualisation.

I'm fine if people enjoy this game, but damn I'm going to be pissed when people defend it with, wasn't other things also bad or didn't the game sell real well. Also I hate people who started with World telling older fans to fuck off as the franchise wouldn't even exist if the older fans/games weren't there.

Launch World when it was still PS4 exclusive had the same issue. Just slap on full Niggagante or whatever it was that gave Atk Up and Weakness Exploit, slap on a Niggagante weapon because raw is king, they have dragon element, and everything worth fighting has dragon weakness. Buff attack, equip mantle, mash for 2-3 minutes, win. I don't even remember if it was a Heroics build or not. I ran out of ideas for fun reasons to even hunt anymore in World in around a hundred hours, in a series where each game preceding it provided several hundred hours. Capcom's solution for this was to drip feed one new monster that's maybe worth fighting + two other shitters that aren't every month, or something.

Even in MHXX/MHGU I remember Ahtal Ka armor just being better than almost everything else. At least in that game there was a bunch of shit to do, gimmicks to make builds around, and fights felt like fights. Maybe Iceborne and Rise were better than World. I never even bothered.
