Danny-boy rarely talks about the actual weaknesses of the capeshit genre. It was already slowly fading before the SJWs sauntered in; they kept repetitive stories made for quick, moneymaking schemes instead of having a logical story outline with a beginning, middle, and end. And people wonder why folks abandoned this stuff for manga and anime, where you typically have a linear story with a beginning, middle, and end for each show or comic.
I do wish people would drop DC and Marvel and realize there's a world of comics outside of those two. Many of whom straight up violate the big two in terms of quality.
Energon Universe has made an absolute KILLING it. As of December of last year, it sold 3 Million copies and keep in mind this started in June 2023.

I've been reading them. The Transformers Skybound comics especially have been amazing. The best Transformers comic stuff since the original IDW run.
Image comics is basically everything the big two are not. Creator ownership with a variety of titles that are original. Monstress, Saga, and Radiant Black (as well as it's in shared universe massive verse) straight up mog DC and Marvel and have a right to stand next to manga.
You got things like Saturday AM and Godhood Comics whom are actual comics made by black people and non-white creators with minority leads. No raceswaps. No Tokens. No pandering.
The ACTUAL diversity the industry has claimed it has and in Saturday AM's case are even being sold in bookstores (which is where comics should be focusing on over comic stores at this point because sales show Graphic novel format and book store channels are superior in sales).
My last recommendation? Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees which came last year. It is SO good. It's getting a sequel this summer.
But as a whole? There are so many great comics that are out there that people are sleeping on because they focus so much on DC and Marvel. Many of these comics deserve recognition and I hope they become a new standard.
