New Grab Bag Creepcast on some classics

Candle Cove, Mr. Widemouth, and The Rake.
I've recently started listening, and I really like the Grab Bags. It's just a trip down memory lane, from the before before times.
I actually really appreciate Bigglestein and wish it was a hair longer so we could play with this creature slowly tormenting this guy, I personally love horror about kids and their "imaginary" friends as it's very fertile ground for working with interesting themes. Speaking of which, I cracked the fuck up at Widemouth calling the kid gay for not playing along with his bullshit.

As a side note: Thank God Wendigoon went back to the beard. The mustache looked terrible

This is the creepcast I wanna see. I'm listening now, just started so I'm on Candle Cove and it's the best creepcast has been in months.

I've been catching up, y'know just putting on older episodes whilst doing chores and shit, and I actually like the show. I like the episodes that are longer stories, both good and bad but for different reasons, and I like the Grab Bags because it's always some hood classic creepypastas.
My favorite story by far was Borrasca, it was frankly masterful in a very unique way. There is a very specific and hard to master part of writing that regards the reread, and when you know the twist in Borrasca the entire story changes from page one of the reread, leading to a completely different experience the second time. That's a hard fucking thing to do right, and damn if that story didn't do it right.
My other favorite is I Dared My Best Friend To Ruin My Life because it's the exact opposite. It was so stupid that it looped back around to being amazing. An edgelord gymbro torments a retarded man, and the retard's gf is kidnapped for like a fucking year and he deadass forgot his girl was stolen by like the Russian mob or some shit. That's kino, that's fucking kino.
Shout-out to Ted The Caver, I was actually squirming during the passages where he's going through these tight holes because my honest phobia is caves and tight spaces I can't get out of. Literally all my nightmares are me in caves or air ducts or coffins or whatever, I've almost had panic attacks in cramped caves, so Ted The Caver made me legit uncomfortable.
Overall, good show and the two have a good dynamic even if Hunter can be a bit too crass for my liking. It's like, you can be crass, but hit that shit like a liver shot I shouldn't expect it it should be a surprise.

Borrasca is definitely a gem. There's something about that episode that's very funny in retrospect after listening to Deepwood, the part where the main three are hanging out at the lake. The lake is called Crystal Lake, so they start making Friday the 13th jokes, I forget exactly how they phrase it but it's something like "What if this was just a Friday the 13th fanfic. All this beautiful prose and none of it matters because it just becomes a terrible slasher thing with a monster that kills everyone"
Shout-out to Ted The Caver
If you haven't watched it I really enjoyed the proto-Creep Cast episode they did on Meat's channel as well before the podcast was official, I like them enough that I just have both episodes on my CC playlist. They don't read the entire story the first time around so you'll mostly just be getting some extra jokes that they didn't repeat in the CC episode and some different ideas they had. Definitely worth a listen at least once

I enjoy the grab bags because it more accurately reflects the creepypasta genre and general no-sleepery. Just a bunch of fuckin shit written by retarded teens and "adults" who sniff their own farts, with a healthy sprinkling of some classic forum posting.
Some of these old pastas just don't hit, though, because the guys have no real idea about whats being talked about or any connection to the source material, like with Lavender Town.

Also thoroughly enjoyed the "don't be gay" bit except for Wendi feeling the need to include how that's offensive and homophobic as part of the "joke".
it's wednesday, my dudes
I just assumed he zero summed after the meme was done like all the others.

Pretty sure they make a lot of their revenue off of fujos and pooners, they’ve got to be a little careful. Laughed my ass off at Hunter saying “kill yourself” and “don’t be gay”, feels like I haven’t heard a YouTuber say anything past “unalive” in years.

Honestly Wendi saying "Don't be gay" etc was inappropriate was far funnier than the actual joke and the joke was already refreshingly funny just because I haven't heard anything like it in so long after growing up with that kinda stuff being a daily occurrence. Maybe it was just me but when Wendi said it was 'problematic' it felt like he was being sarcastic because he knew he had to say it or they'd just have to cut that section entirely. I think if he actually had a problem with it they just would have left it out since he seems to be the one with most of the control over the edit

Wendigoon if he were born thirty years earlier on an edgy pirate radio show in the late 90s would have been giggling exactly like that about the hard R being dropped while offering a similar sort of “you can’t say that that’s terrible” argument, he just had the misfortune of being born as a very online zoomer so there’s going to be that schoolmarm voice in his head lecturing him about everything no matter how objectively funny it is.

Honestly, dang has Creep Cast exposed me to some real nigga horror I wouldn’t have found otherwise because of my pathological refusal to look at r/nosleep.
Tommy Taffy is legit fucking terrifying, but it’s good horror because Tommy is clearly a representation of cyclical abuse and how children can view their parents more abusive side as ‘the other mom/dad’. Great writing, great horror, but fuuuuck bro Feed The Pig and Tommy Taffy are not for the faint of heart. And if I say that, it’s some dark shit.

Elias Witherow isn't subtle enough for that to have been done on purpose. Feed the Pig is proof he lacks subtlety, he's the 13 year old edge lord that wrote creepypastas like Jeff the Killer.

I haven’t gotten to Feed The Pig outside the show, but I’ve had it recommended by other people so I’ll get to it eventually and see if my opinion holds up. Though a dude creeping his cast and ejaculating flies everywhere is pretty metal ngl.
I personally think horror can lack subtlety and still be nuanced, but I will admit until I get through more of his work I could just be too big brained.
