The gf part of this post is wrong but the part about finding quality long lasting friends after college being much harder is very true. My closest friends to this day (nearing 30) are people I met in middle school 15+ years ago. I've made plenty of friends since HS but the level of connection just isn't the same. There's something about people you went to school with that makes the friendship stronger. You form a bond when you grow up with someone like that you just can't replicate in your adult years.

What are your interests? You should join a club or workshop. Start with just being present, then work up to small conversations. Be patient with yourself; close friendships develop over months or years.

As an adult there's just no equivalent to school/college where you're pushed into a situation where you bond with people. This isn't the 1980s where the Internet didn't exist and people actively sought out ways to socialize with others.

Most adults spend their free time either browsing social media or engaging in hobbies by themselves/with longtime friends.

Only boomers go out to meet people irl at this point.

I believe that this is because you don't typically have much camaraderie built through adversity with people you become friends with post education. If anyone's worked a tough job you probably know what I'm talking about. When you are in the shit with someone, working together, and you make it through to the other side, there's just a bond there you can't get anywhere else. It shows you who you can really trust. I ain't no shrink but I imagine that's partially why the military trains people the way it does.
