I think you're missing the part where a lottt of the people with sex dolls are not just using it to physically stimulate themselves, but are often pretending its their actual girlfriend(/boyfriend) (at least most of the owners shameless enough to post about their dolls online).

One of the masterful little details of that reddit post is that the guy claims that he damaged the doll's neovagina with a "toy". Did he buy his imaginary fantasy girlfriend a dildo because he can't satisfy her? That's about the least creepy scenario I can come up with. I don't see why he would need to fill his whole domicile with these things to satisfy any physical need. He's paying a lot of extra money to get that authentic "chloroformed hitchhiker" experience.

The gf part of this post is wrong but the part about finding quality long lasting friends after college being much harder is very true. My closest friends to this day (nearing 30) are people I met in middle school 15+ years ago. I've made plenty of friends since HS but the level of connection just isn't the same. There's something about people you went to school with that makes the friendship stronger. You form a bond when you grow up with someone like that you just can't replicate in your adult years.
