Not that it affects your overall point, but I don't think Anna hung out with Chris because of her religion. Anna's not very devout.

She might be like one of those "Lunch Buddies" that sit with you when you can't make real friends.

She's just a nice Christian girl that probably realizes Chris is messed up in the head and lonely so she's being friends with him to help him. It's not like she's in contact with Chris 24/7. You can probably tolerate him in short bursts.

I did a google book search on the 2005 book, and her name comes up but the page isn't scanned and at this point I decided I didn't care enough to look further.
