I don't know what Obsidian is used for in Blockgame, but what happens if you accidentally place it down?
Obsidian in Blockgame is used for building nether portals in the PvP-open world called Myrkheim as fast travel back to Midgar where there's a dedicated community-shared portal in Origin, the central starter town of which is a PvP-safezone, or to your faction's specific town portal that your faction specifically owns. It's just fast travel because any item you gain in Myrkheim is dropped on death save specific items like most blocks. I don't remember if the portal you left Myrkheim is remembered as your point of arrival when you leave Midgar via Portal.
If you place it down, GG you need to find more. I think the block form of it is a late-game upgrade material but idk, it's far easier to just carry around 11 buckets of lava than to get the pick and the mining skill needed to mine obsidian in the first place. Really stupid change but this developer worked with blizzard for 20 years and was basically coding arrays as he left preschool. (shame he stopped there)
I personally enjoyed playing Blockgame until the inevitable reality of why social Sandbox games fucking suck decided to sink in when I got randomly chased by a player who was clearly level 50+ with way better gear than me and tried to kill me for no reason, considering I'd just been in starter gear and was like... level 12 or so. I'd spent a good 9 hours that day grinding levels but also looking for materials I could use to progress (so long as I got back to Midgar) and quit the game the moment the combat timer went to 0 and went poof. I logged back in but only the next day and decided that I really just didn't feel like playing it.
Nice fuckin' Social Sandbox there Jason.
It was really fun that, even if the implementation of it fucking sucked, I could make all of my capabilities better by simply doing shit; scratches the itch that Skyrim's skill system does to a much better degree. I also liked hunting monsters because I'd sometimes get really rare items (of which I had a fair number of) and these items can be outright stronger than anything you could buy from a merchant at any level, sometimes even rolling enchantments (I had a mace that dealt fire damage) and it heavily itched the ARPG-tism that only Diablo 1 properly itches, but any ARPG since then itches pretty well, just less so.
If I found a server like Blockgame, only not shit and not designed to be a wild west where level 50 players can 2-shot a level 1-10 noob who's worked their ass off and end up losing all their best shit because of the mistake of playing the server at all, I'd probably no-life it. Ignorance is bliss I suppose.
Lastly seriously clip the shit you're talking about. I want to laugh with you, but I'm not going to if all you have is just a picture and archive the vod if you're going to mention it has embarrassing shit in it. Jason is 100% not above deleting the fuckin' thing with how insecure he is and how many Vods he's deleted as of late.
