This seems to be the biggest issue. If a small group of immigrants come in, they'll have to assimilate and adhere to the laws/culture/language they've joined. If a ton of them come in all at once, there is zero reason to assimilate or adapt to the country they've entered because they can stay in their own group and vote in others like them. (And after finding out how the laws and culture are in places like Iran and Afghanistan, I don't think we want those cultures becoming expanding pockets in our own countries.)
