Dead by Daylight and other Asymmetric Slasher Games - Discuss the games and the autistic/entitled communities around them

That ship sailed with the release of Trickster, anime has been fair game since.
They actually put work into the trickster background though. Makes a lot of sense for why he looks like an anime but belongs in DBD.

Straight up licensed anime characters is a dogshit idea though. Especially with how annoying he was to watch during the PTB. Gonna bring in even more shitty kids and the culture (such as it is) will degrade even further.

I disagree. Tricker being a BTS kpop boy-idol should have lent his aesthetic to be more Tiktok fanedit not anime, the only character whose backstory is worse is Skull Merchant.

Is the primary audience for FnaF still kids? I feel like FnaF is like 10 years old now and the kids who were into it should be adults by now. Kinda like how Pokémon is most popular among millenials.

Berserk is the most overrated shit ever and it's just misery porn. Suffer.
It's not that bad and I say this as an anime hater. At least it's not some edgy twink with a bowlcut doing some chink noises to the point of audio fatigue.

Wtf is this? Sounds like some downie smashing a piano:

This will be an average Ghoul main:

I hope we´re getting the Ginosaji someday in DbD.

Would be the only time i´d return to this bugfest of a game.

Edit: Chase theme can just be vocal commentary

As a Tokyo Ghoul fan, filthy Weeb, and casual DBD player I'm both flabbergasted, and happy that they actually put Ken Kaneki in the game. Like with AOT I could understand because of the series popularity (both over time, and recently.) even if I absolutely hated how it was all just costumes, and shrunken down Titan skins. And the same thing with the Junji Ito stuff since there have been the Anime adaptions of some of his work recently.
But Tokyo Ghoul seems completely out of left field as the series (both the Manga, and Anime of Tokyo Ghoul RE) finished a few years ago so it's bizarre to me that they've chosen to do this now. But hey I'll take it, I guess it's also just weird that they made the main protagonist of the series a Killer character, I would hate for him to be a Survivor with barely any battle ability (I refuse to play as a powerless Alucard in DBD), but since he's pretty nutty they can make it make sense for him to be one of the Killers. If they had made Kaneki a Survivor, and still wanted to have a Tokyo Ghoul Killer the only other options would probably be Tsukiyama, Eto, or Juuzou, but they would be pretty obscure for Killers, so Kaneki in crazy mode makes the most sense.

Just me for me personally, if I were to choose one Anime character to be a Killer it would be Lucy from Elfen Lied, I doubt it would ever happen, but I can Dream, I feel like putting Kaneki in opens Doors for series like Parasyte or other more horror focused Manga/Anime series.

I see some people mentioned how ridiculous it is to have the Demogorgon or Xenomorph chasing people around, and sticking them on Hooks, and it definitely is, but lore-wise it kind of makes sense. The Entity puts into the Killers minds what to do, so for more animalistic creatures, it will have become a part of their instinct from the Entity "talking" to them. The Killers can resist, but the Entity will torture them into doing what it wants like with the Trapper.

With Silent Hill f around the corner, the degrees of separation between dbd and When They Cry are few.

The reasoning BHVR gave is that making him a Killer was the best way they could implement his powers into the game. I don't really know anything about the series beyond the Unravel memes but apparently the "story" is that he was nabbed by the Entity after being tortured/starved so he was at the absolute peak of his nuttiness. A cursory glance at others reactions seems to suggest that a lot of fans of the series look at this alternative timeline stuff and say "yeah, that checks out" so I assume it's not that out of the realm of possibility.
Do I think he necessarily fits along with the other killers in DBD? Ehhhh, it still feels kinda weird but unfortunately the name of the game in popular multiplayer games is to mash as many properties into your platform as possible a la Fortnite and BHVR is not immune to the call of the almighty weeb dollar.

I am also rather disappointed they're getting rid of the Hellraiser stuff as a Pinhead main but I know it's one of those properties where the licensing has always been... weird to say the least. I know everyone was suspecting they were gonna remove Leatherface with the TCM gaming coming out but I don't think that was much of a risk after that game kinda floundered. It is somehow still alive though and has received updates since, but I don't think the playerbase is anywhere near when it launched.

Yeah I've been "lurking" (I don't know if that's the correct term) on the site with no account for years, from learning about CWC, and being deeply disturbed, and interested. Then the whole thing with his Mother, and I started checking in near every day to see what was happening. I eventually found this thread, and have been keeping up with it for awhile as I love the discussion, but checking last week, and finding out about Kaneki being added is what pushed me over the edge into making an account, as I've wanted too for quite awhile.

Just going off my memory, but Kaneki is very mentally disturbed in the series, and seems to have multiple personalities, but I don't know if he actually does or not, it's like a side effect of being tortured, and then at one point having his memory erased. I remember a scene in the Manga near the end where all his "personalities" sort of have a discussion/argument with each other. So it can kind of work along those lines as another layer of craziness.
I take the game very casually, and I try not to take it too seriously, I have always been a big fan of horror so even though there is a lot of DBD that is absolutely loathsome, and ridiculous to me, the huge amount of characters, and fun I have while playing sort of makes up for it. I've never played Fortnite, but I did see they put Goku in it along with Naruto, and whatever else and even though I love those franchises, I don't think they can be done justice properly just shoving them into something like Fortnite. More horror oriented franchises though I feel can work in DBD if they at least try to do them justice (shrinking the Titan characters down as skins to make them playable is an insult to them imo.), so I'm pretty open to whatever they want to add. I still think they should try to focus on other Slasher franchises though, I think Jason should always be top priority if they could get him.

If you bought the Hellraiser stuff you get to keep it right? I don't spend much money on DBD, but at the very least I buy each Chapter as it comes out just in case something like this happens. I don't mind stuff getting removed as long as I can keep the stuff I already have.
This is a bit off topic, but sort of relevant. There's a game I've been playing on and off a long time (since 2006 maybe?) called Maplestory, and they recently removed the Jett character (Space Cowboy type character.), but they didn't just remove it (as in you can't make the character anymore.), but they completely got rid of the character, along with their storyline the whole kit, and kaboodle. Any Jett characters you may have made, and put time, and money into are completely changed into one of the other "base explorer" Classes. I haven't played Maplestory since (or at least their official server). If DBD went that far with Hellraiser or Stranger Things (I think they removed it, but brought it back?) then I'd be absolutely livid.

The sad part WTC x DBD would be the best thing to happen to WTC in years because Ryu07 is too busy with his horrifuckus VTuber project to FINISH CICONIA ALREADY YOU FUCKING HACK CUNT JESUS GODDAMN.

...Sorry, used to be a fan of Ryu07 but seeing what he's become after Umineko is just sad and infuriating.

FINISH CICONIA ALREADY YOU FUCKING HACK CUNT JESUS GODDAMN.
r07 refuses to finish ciconia because his plot had a covid-type event that became real before he got to publish it so now he has to rewrite the entire thing.

seeing what he's become after Umineko is just sad

I think having his editor die around EP7 of umineko fucked him up real bad, if umi eps 7 and 8 arent evidence enough.
