racing games - no not racist games you fucking ni

Someone's made a cyberpunk NFS game called Punk Racer.
You can play the tech demo here.

Speaking of cyberpunk racers, apart from the fairly known one, Crime Cities
There's a game on the PC & PS2, called NYR: New York Race which is basically The Fifth Element as a racing game.

There's also one called Beam Breakers.

Any good emulators to play Midnight Club LA? Or am I gonna have to buy myself a used 360? Because RPCS3 runs like ass for me.

Nacon provided a teaser of the next 3 cars that are coming to TDUSC, in the form of their car sounds, which is even more pathetic than Kaz's silhouette teasers for GT7's updates:

And speaking of Kaz, he also posted the usual teaser 3 upcoming cars in GT7's February update, which includes a Kei truck, again to satiate the GT autists, but it's still a lame duck car to add:

I just watched a bunch of videos about racing games. Some of them said racing games are dead/dying no one is playing racing games and so on. I saw in one video that racing games are full of microtransactions. I looked at Forza Horizon 5 on Steam and it has nearly $280 worth of car DLC and Forza Motorsport from 2023 has mixed reviews and $162 worth of DLC. That's pretty fucking awful. I can only imagine buying a Ace Combat game and having to buy DLC to get a Su-37 a F-16 or a MiG 29. It's fucking nuts.

Anyone excited for Project Motor Racing? It's a modern reimagination of games like GTR 2 and is all about old FIA GT cars. In a more mainstream way you could have encountered several of them in stuff like Gran Turismo 4 too.

I loved this generation of GT racecars so I'm interested in its development. It's apparently developed by Ian Bell and co., Ian is also a lead developer of iRacing, and also famed for the aforementioned GTR series and Project Cars.

Xenia, mainly Xenia Canary. I recommend downloading it through the Xenia Manager.
I popped in Midnight Club: Los Angeles on my Series X. The game's visuals hold up well today. RAGE makes the city feel authentic with the sun glare, smog and building detail. Bonus points for having real life landmarks and product placement through ads and billboards. One of the best cockpit views for that generation yet, close to Forza Horizon 4/5 on Xbox Series.

Nacon revealed the upcoming content for TDU Solar Crown's Season 3, but it's just features that SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE GAME ON LAUNCH, and not advertised as "additions to the game":

TDUSC will have Free-to-Play weekend for XBox owners.

1741398159416.png

TDUSC's devs are also snorting massive copium by claiming that there are MANY more console players than the very few players on PC.

Rennsport will be coming to consoles this year, and will be distributed by Nacon.

But given Nacon's racing games in TDU Solar Crown and MXGP 24 The Game both shitting the bed HARD, and Rennsport's own controversies such as possible use of NFTs for the game, and Rennsport possibly using rFactor 2's game code, doesn't bode well for the game:

I’ve been playing it and I have a serious question because its difficult to find any information on the development of this game given how old it is, but was there any drama between San Diego and Dan Houser while this game was being developed? Because it feels like this game can’t make up its mind whether it’s an arcade racer or an arcade racer with cinematic storytelling. There’s a lot of character arcs that are brought up and then they go nowhere. There’s a hunted romance arc between the protagonist and this other girl I can’t remember the name of, but that goes nowhere. The main protagonist has no name, but he clearly had an arc in mind and a backstory planned out, but that doesn’t seem to be going anywhere.

I’ve been enjoying it, don’t get me wrong, but it feels so off because it feels like there were two visions clashing with each other as I’m playing it.

I know nothing about the development of this game, but it could just be that the story isn't very good. Racing games aren't known for good writing, anyways, I'm just glad the game has what it has.

Which is interesting because I actually like the characters in Midnight Club LA I just wish they did more with them and had more moments of interaction. I’m someone who’s an unironic fan of Fast and Furious, so I kind of like the vibe the game had going for it.

Most I can find about internal disputes from Midnight Club: Los Angeles is how several developers reported being overworked during its development and Red Dead Redemption.

🔎Future Fixes & Improvements

In this section of the patch notes, you will find some things that we are working on improving for future releases of Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown as our commitment to be more transparent. Understand that there are priorities given to some topics over others, and some are harder to investigate and solve than others, so no timeframe can be given currently unless otherwise specified. That said, here are all the future fixes and improvements we are working on:

Suspension Improvements: Throwing vehicles with insane forces after a jump or by taking small objects at high speed. ETA: Bug solved, gone to Quality Assurance
Collision Improvements: Bug with the restitution of forces when colliding with the Ibiza race blockers throwing the car in a strange way when wall sliding. ETA: Bug solved, gone to Quality Assurance
Road Wetness On Events: We are working on adding road wetness to all event panels similar to those currently found on Convoy Missions. ETA: Being worked on, no ETA yet
Improved Acceleration/Clutch On All Vehicles: The engine brake is currently present when the player accelerates preventing the car from having its true acceleration at low revs (present in cruising mode or on low-powered cars). ETA: Under Investigation
KT Engine Improvements: Optimization Improvements, Rendering Improvements, Lighting Improvements (Shadows/Light/Reflections), Water Surfaces and Ocean Floors Improvements (Reflections), Shadow Management, Cockpit Lighting Improvements, Networking Stability ETA: Being worked on, planned for deployment on S5 - We will be able to talk more about this in a future Dev Diary about the future of Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown.
Steering Angle Radius Improvements: Vehicles have a limited steering angle radius, more noticeably at small speeds, and when the vehicle is in neutral compared to in-gear. ETA: Under Investigation
Friends List: Players are not able to see their friends list on any platform. ETA: Under Investigation
Transmission/Clutch Improvements: Vehicles sometimes hold at a certain RPM while accelerating. More noticeable when in a higher gear than usual, and the acceleration is at 100%. ETA: Under Investigation
Auto Hazards: Players complain of hazards being on when coming to a stop, ruining the immersion.(Solution = Timer removed) ETA: Bug solved, to be deployed on TDU SC (Season 3 Patch 1)
Auto Handbrake: Players complain of the auto parking brake being on when coming to a complete stop, often ruining the immersion of cruising. ETA: Under Investigation

We of course also have many other bug fixes and improvements we are working on, and we will continue to give you further details in future communications!
Our Final Message

Thank you to the TDU community for continuing to believe in our improvements and dedication to making this game one to remember.
