racing games - no not racist games you fucking ni

It's both funny and sad that Nacon added a Japanese-themed event for this week's Weekly events, because there are only 2 Japanese cars in the entire game:

And one of the item's in Season 2 Solar Pass is pantyhose, which is really scraping the bottom barrel in racing game player character cosmetics:

Assetto Corsa Evo is getting Mixed reception to its Early Access, due to the game being Always Online, and lack of optimization:

They made a "workaround" by enabling cars in Offline Mode, but the lack of disclosure of the Always Online part is still scummy:

On a positive note, the new Tokyo Xtreme Racer seems to be optimized enough to run on potatoes, so it probably will run decently on Steam Deck:

Tried both Assetto Corsa EVO and Tokyo Xtreme Racer. Can you guess which game runs better? You get nothing if you guess right, because it's a pretty trivial question.

Also apparently a lot of old Codies games are no longer purchasable on Steam. The entire GRID series except Legends, and the entire DiRT series except 5 and Rally 2.0 as well.

Some initial thoughts on TXR. First and foremost it's exactly what I wanted it to be, that being a modernised TXR game that I don't have to run though an emulator. I can't wait to get my JZX, FC and R32 bought along with the rest of the menagerie of cars I'll end up collecting. I'll be playing the shit out of it, at least until Civ7 comes out. There's already one thing I hate and that's the ridiculous wallet limit, it might become less of an issue later into the game but the initial buyable perks give you a cap of 4.5mil with is nowhere near enough as I capped out a few times from boss battles and losing a few hundred k CP is bullshit. As for Deck performance, yes you can set a few settings to medium and it will hold 60 most of the time, I was getting dips to 57/58 here and there but the moment I started my first dual battle where the game was rendering more than 2 decent quality models the frame rate plummeted to 40, and with games speed dropping as you go below 60 it was horrible. It's also worth noting that when any tyre smoke is generated the frame rate drops into the 20s. The game looks ok on minimum but I wish that the TAA didn't drop the frame rate below 60 as it really helps image quality.

I was playing the NFS Hot Pursuit Remaster the other day. I like playing as a cop and doing pit maneuvers on people.

TXR has also absolutely embarrassed TDUSC and their much lower all-time peak in comparison:

TDUSC will also have a Free Trial Weekend for XBone users, even though it's the least populated platform for the game, by far:

Support for Forza Horizon 5 is speculated to be winding down as the latest Midnight Muscle update will allow players to vote on past festival events.

I'm listening to soundtracks from Midnight Club 3 & Need for Speed: Underground. Great selection of music that fits the street racer vibe. MC3 is rated E10+, Underground is rated E, yet they have more stakes without the adolescence writing that Horizon decides to adapt.

The January GT7 update will be releasing this week:

In addition to the Hyundai IONIQ 5 and the F3500-A, the other 2 cars appear to be the EF Honda Civic and the Toyota C-HR, the C-HR being the lame choice of car.

TDUSC will be getting a patch this week, which includes a Leaderboard reset and the addition of the Armenian (?) SARD Kernel-level Anti-Cheat. The said anti-cheat won't do the game any favors performance-wise, and the site seems to overstate how good the AC is.

It appears to be used mainly with dead (?) Korean games, i.e. Ragnarok, AION (I forgot if that game is Korean-made), and Lineage.

Do people really care about a leaderboard or are they trying to appease the streamers/content creators?

KT Racing claims that the Leaderboard Reset was done because of cheating issues in previous seasons, and also because some of the meta cars that topped the leaderboard (i.e. the Porsche 918 Spyder and the Buggy) were nerfed.

It was also probably cheaper to license this anti-cheat (it's yet to see if it will do anything though), compared to something like Easy Anti-Cheat or BattlEye.

The rumors about FH5 coming to PS5 turned out to be true.

The big question is if Sony will do the same and release GT7 on PC. But since Kaz's ego is so huge, he probably won't allow that, for some word salad reason that somehow relates to cars. I also wonder if this will get Kaz to make an open-world GT spinoff racing game, as "competition" to Forza, The Crew, and Need for Speed, and also so that Sony can brag about having "a PS5 exclusive game".
