The visual development team has done their job of denoting what's dangerous by making it look glowy and evil, it's not "artsy" it's their job to follow the inhouse style of the studio. Trying to enhance the atmosphere or style of the game with graphical effects is to meant to enhance the experience for the player.
There are improper ways of doing this but her problem is that she can't process information correctly, that's not the Dev's fault.

It's really interesting to learn that this is her favorite movie of all time, because it really explains one of her core ideals: If you've been wronged in any way in the past, you can do whatever you feel like if it means getting what you want.
