I was actually really enjoying Mark Waid's Daredevil run but then got to the Sons of the Serpent (basically a supervillain equivalent of the KKK) arc. It feels like it's been going on forever, isn't particularly interesting, and a good chunk of it just feels like Mark Waid handwringing about his own white guilt, complete with a criminal case similar to the Trayvon Martin one (in which the black guy killed was, in fact, a dindu who was indeed a scholar). Waid is great at at smaller, personal superhero stories but when he tries to have Daredevil take on some giant conspiracy he tends to fall flat.
The last big mega arc Waid did was similarly disappointing but not as bland, so I didn't mind it at the time. In it, Daredevil got ahold of a data drive loaded with information on various crime syndicates (Secret Empire, AIM, all those types) but refused to hand it over to the Avengers or SHIELD because... reasons. How's it end? He hands the data drive over to the Avengers, leaving the reader with the feeling of "why the fuck didn't you do that a dozen issues ago when it was first suggested."
Essentially, it feels like if Waid can't end a story with Daredevil punching the antagonist in the face, he just doesn't know what the fuck to do.
EDIT: oh, joy, the Sons of the Serpent arc ends with... Daredevil's identity becoming public. Bet you didn't see that coming for the 9 trillionth time. Funny thing is, I've seen people bitch and moan that Charles Soule immediately retcons DD's identity being public, but I'm really, really looking forward to that.
