Culture Assassin's Creed Shadows Is Already Being Called "Woke" And "Disrespectful" - Assassin's Creed Shadows' two protagonists are getting the abuse we all sadly expected.

Assassin's Creed Shadows is already being labeled as "woke" and "disrespectful" following its announcement trailer, primarily due to main characters Naoe and Yasuke, the latter of whom is historically considered Japan's first black samurai.

Ubisoft has finally lifted the lid on the next mainline Assassin's Creed, revealing that Assassin's Creed Shadows will be available on November 15 later this year. While we didn't get any gameplay, we did get a lengthy cinematic trailer going into the backstories of the game's two main protagonists, Naoe and Yasuke. Naoe appears to be a Shinboi from the Japanese provinces, while Yasuke is considered to be Japan's first black samurai, and came into contact with several prominent figures in Japanese history.

That means Assassin's Creed Shadows will center around a woman and a black man, and some people on social media have reacted with exactly the kind of behavior we have come to expect nowadays whenever a protagonist isn't a straight white man. In the replies of Ubisoft's announcement tweet, you don't have to look very hard for people decrying the game as "woke" and "disrespectful", with a sprinkling of DEI in there for good measure.

Assassin's Creed Shadows' Yasuke Is Somehow "Disrespectful" To Japan

Most of the vitriol revolves around Yasuke, with some people taking issue with the fact that they're being made to play as a black man in a Feudal Japan setting, despite the character being a key figure in Japanese history. Some claim that it's inappropriate for Ubisoft to have someone who isn't native to the country as one of the main characters, though I don't think these same people take issue with the fact that the incredibly Welsh Edward Kenway was sailing around the Carribean in Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag.

You've also got some stating that Yasuke wasn't actually a samurai, but was a retainer to Oda Nobunaga, and that this somehow "disrespects" Japanese culture. However, people are already pointing out Yasuke was Nobunaga's Kosho, which is essentially the bodyguard or personal servant of a general or lord and is considered a samurai in Japanese history. Just because Yasuke didn't belong to a Samurai clan, it doesn't mean he wasn't one.

"We're sorry we got found out"
I think for a lot of people, they end up tuning stuff like this out. After all, it's only historical fiction, right?
What they miss when they come to that conclusion is how truly insidious this shit is, like the so-called "Japanese historian" who presented his book on Yasuke in Japan as historical fiction, but as an accurate account in the west, going so far as to cite it on Wikipedia itself. The Japanese are absolutely right to be pissed here, I've seen the same shit happen so many times in the western world and how it has actually warped people's perceptions of the past. Earlier today, I was reading a Twitter thread about the immigrant issues currently occuring in the UK and Ireland. Naturally, one of those third worlders (or one of the fuckers who can't get enough of them) pops in, boasting about the recreation of the Cheddar Man. Some fucking leftist "historians" reconstructed the Cheddar Man, giving him black as coal skin, and this fucker used it to blast about the white people in the UK and Ireland were actually the REAL illegal immigrants. Every goddamn time they do this to historical fiction, some retard is going to take it as gospel. I'm sure there's some retarded Hoteps out there who saw a performance of Hamilton and assume that the Founding Fathers be black and shiiet.
This is far from one of the most egregious examples - after all, Yasuke was relatively undocumented, but it is indisputable that he was in the historical record, but shit like this is a Trojan horse to get their foot in the door so they can eventually cast enough doubt on any part of the historical record and reshape it as they see fit.

Fuck that: “Buh he was an IMPORTANT part of Japanese history! A Black samurai!”

He was literally some rando groid that a Jesuit brought over. A feudal lord saw him and went: “OMFG! That guy is coal black! Wouldn’t it be kawaii to dress him like one of us and see if he can act like a human?!”

THAT WAS LITERALLY IT! It was attention grabbing stunt from a noble lord, and as soon as he got overthrown in a coup, everyone forgot about the Black samurai again.

(Unlike the other samurai he wasn’t expected or forced to do seppuko. Likely because they knew he wasn’t an actual samurai but a fucking gimmick.)

It is a HUGE franchise so I think there is zero chance it flops. Most gamers don't actually care much about faggot shit or culture war in the games.
I would say 10-15 million sales first quarter is what they want/need to class it successful.
Less than 8 million sales is very bad.
Less than 5 million sales is catastrophic and the end of ubisoft as a company.

It's hilarious watching Dustborn, Concord and now this get completely shut down and turned into a laughingstock. Maybe the DEI hires will finally realize that forcing this woke goyslop on people is not going to make them like it. That's unlikely though, they'll just say we're racist or sexist or whatever while they continue to lose money and wonder why.
