I know this is a thread usually making fun of Reddit, but I want to share something interesting I learned. There's a Russian term for outsider lolcows called "Lower Internet".

After websearching "низкий интернет," I can't find any internet backroads about this being a legit term. It could be something that this guy in particular uses. Lower Internet is still a good term for this kind of shit.

How does a person this fragile survive out in the world? Obviously, Reddit is the worst place to get advice in that regard, as they make it as a great shame that needs to be atoned for, and not just someone being eleven and needing to touch grass. Let's hope they're more ready if they face a real problem in their life.

Meanwhile I see tons of Redditors calling for Musk to off himself and they go unpunished. Wishing death upon someone is only acceptable if they're a high profile uber-rich person apparently.

Remember that a few years ago, Reddit pushed through new rules on hateful content, specifically stating that the anti-hate rules does not apply to people that belong to a majority group. They're all a bunch of holier-than-thou hypocrits thinking they're the good guys.

Redditors are delusional about foreign countries because they're all Americans and have only heard about other countries via mainstream media. They think the less White a place is, the safer it is because the American education system has drilled into their gullible skulls that anything vaguely European is evil.

For kicks, I did a quick lookup on the State Department's website for Laos; most of the country is on Level 2 Travel Advisory (exercise increased caution) because of an epidemic of drug trafficking, gang violence, banditry, and explosive ordinance left over from the Indochina War. Xaisomboun Province in particular is on Level 3 Travel Advisory because there's consistent clashes between the military there and anti-government groups that have resulted in people getting shot. For reference, the travel advisory level goes up to 4, with countries like North Korea getting a level 4 designation.

If you go to Laos you risk getting blown up by mines, shot by drug traffickers, or shot by anti-government forces. The only places in the US that could get close to this level of violence are bughive cities like Detroit, though I know redditors consider cities to be the only parts of America that actually exist so I guess I wouldn't be shocked. And even then, Detroit doesn't have fucking unexploded ordinance laying around!

What is it with Redditors choosing to go to shithole countries when completely better countries are available? Don’t go to China, go to Taiwan. Don’t go to Laos, go to Thailand. Don’t go to Korea, go to Japan. Etc.

My "favorite" part of Reddit is how one of the founders was willing to defend CP/creepshots/I forget exactly what and yet the site has still always found a way to go further downhill.

At least back then I felt like the site was ultimately dumb fun 99% of the time.

Now? Now I can't fathom what would make someone willing to post there besides either naivete or stupidity. Or autism.

I hate jannies, I hate brigadiers, I want to see them all hang and I want to keep it on tape for repeat viewing.

Does the average Japanese person even know what Reddit is? I've talked to a few online, brought Reddit up and they've always asked me what it is. I know, 4 people doesn't equal an entire country, but like I said… it just doesn't seem popular or relevant over there.

Also I'd assume that subreddit would be like all the other Japanese subreddits: overran by Western expats and therefore not actually useful or interesting because of that.
