The Assassin's Creed franchise was a series with unlimited potential that they squandered. The first two Assassin's Creed games are still two of my favourite games to this day - ACII absolutely defined 2010 in gaming for me. Brotherhood was alright, but you could see the decay starting to set in already. Everything they released since then has been a badly written turd, I think because the lead writer left the company, and each installment just got worse - Except Black Flag because the naval combat was stupidly good fun.

My honest wish is that Shadows kills Ubisoft - Just for ruining a series that once brought me so much joy.

That's because Ezio's story was never meant to continue, so the writers were kind of in a pickle here when they had to do a sequel. Supposedly the story in the future was supposed to be wrapped up quickly too, but when Ubisoft decided to do yearly games, it kind of turned into a shitshow and the franchise became a historical COD like slop with a new coat of paint every release.

I have my doubts that their numbers are accurate. Likely they're counting every time somebody starts the game and connects to the server. So if you shut down the game and boot it back up again you're counted as a separate person playing the game and not the same person.

Twitter does this with its view counts. It's a way to obscure actual numbers.

Now they only need to quintuple that number to break even. (Estimate cost is 250-350$Million + 20$Million extra for the changes made during the last delay.)
