Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

Gen-X is in the position of suffering from being mediocre from being stuck in between the boomer highs and boomer lows.
They suffer because they convinced themselves that being a bunch of losers and burnouts is cool. Gen-X is the original corporate approved counter culture generation.

Captain Phasma was simply trying to put in some Game of Thrones with no idea what to do.
If only they'd been that smart. Gwendolyn Christie is a 6'3" freak of nature, which is objectively tall and absolutely massive by Hollywood standards (for reference, Boyega is 5'10", Ridley is 5'7", and Isaac is 5'8".) This gives her a physical dimension very few women have, which GoT used to its fullest effect. Now it's been a while since I saw the ST (thank Christ) but I don't remember any scenes with her looming, or otherwise being physically intimidating. Between not using her size and not showing her face, they got the perfect actress for a unique, dangerous villainess- a sort of dark spin on Brienne as an Imperial true believer- and proceeded to piss it away on bad jokes.

Not just bad jokes but the armor doesn't do anything to make her more imposing. We don't see the face until a partial the end, and it could have been any womanlet. She also just provides the voice (and maybe the blocking). It was all just disney trying to capitalize on Women Shit while also hoping for a boost from GoT.

I'd say she should have been an Alien, but JJ&KK's poop-brown anus aliens wouldn't have made it any better.

I had a theory that Phasma was a Skywalker. I thought this because if this were the Skywalker Saga and they were being cagey about Rey being a Skywalker, they were going to do something out of left field, like a genetically engineered clone from Luke's missing hand.

At first, I thought it was Finn (I figured if they cast Lupita N'yongo they were going to make her some kind of princess, hooks up with Luke and boom, you have a black Skywalker...but uh, we had to hide our blacks from China. See also Lupita.)

Of course that didn't happen because nobody in Lucasfilm can think past their own noses and do something legitimately or equivalently interesting.

I wanted her to be part of the Hux faction. One of the contingent ideas that TFA included was factionalism within the black hats, Snoke having overall control but Hux and Kylo having differing spheres and chafing at each others' equal rank. The physically unimpressive General Hux having this absolute monster of a bodyguard would give him a good deal more immediacy as a threat despite lacking ooga booga space magic.

Which I also would have been fine with. The overall direction of the sequel trilogy was either memberberries or pissing off the fanbase.

Almost anything would have been preferable to what we got.

You don't see Phasma or get anything out of her because the execs had the idea of adding her when the first film was 90% done or something. The execs went "you know, we could sell a unique toy for a storm trooper that's silver... can you put a unique one in the movie JarJar?", which Abrams agreed to. Kennedy of course wanted her to be a woman, and hey Game of Thrones lady's career is sort of light, so let's get her in on it.

Ruin then did nothing with her because he didn't want to be bothered fixing anything Abrams wrote and she had nothing to her besides what the actor brought, like how old dark Jedi was only given character due to Ray Stevenson giving a shit with the material, and the same reason Squid Game got the Jedi master from Acolyte any depth. You don't really have any potential when you weren't given shit to work with. They are nothing but the actor doing their best with what they have.

She only exists for the same reason Poe comes out of nowhere in the script after the opener; because of bullshit on the fly changes that somehow were rewarded. Oscar Isaacs got pissy about getting killed early again since he had no desire to be the next generation's Sean Bean.

They threw out the plan, and said "fuck it let's wing it" while handling an 11 billion dollar IP. It's kind of amazing how retarded they are while also being malevolent.

This requires both competent screenwriters and devising & sticking to a plan/theming.

The first one is beyond the capabilities of the utter hack JewJew. The second is racist, abilist, and gate-keeping out trannies/oppresses black and brown bodies.
