Tophia’s letting the comments rile her up enough to where she now thinks she has to proclaim her innocence & insist that she wasn’t a part of the carjacking that took her brother’s life, she’s not a murderer—which is some very Papachu like thinking—when everyone has just been stating the truth, which is if she had made better choices & prioritized getting off of the streets over going to Comic-Con & saving up for a house cos renting is beneath her, her brother likely would still be here. And her saying “the cops wouldn’t be helping me if I was guilty!” tells me that she is, in fact, feeling real guilt for the consequences of her poor decisions, even if she wants to play it off as being solely survivor’s guilt.
Remember a few weeks ago, she was yapping about how “imagine if I had listened to Aunt Karen’s advice two years ago and just gotten a job, I never would’ve made the money I did off social media!” She really had to eat crow with that, huh?
I usually find Aunt Karen cringey in her own right with the whole TikTok judge thing, but nobody, not even Tophia’s own mother, has tried this hard to reach her & genuinely help her the way Karen has. This live between them from two years ago stands out in particular, Karen wasn’t wearing the dumb court gown & you can see as opposed to the TikTok court lives, she was patient & expressed real concern for Tophia’s wellbeing, she talked to her directly but not unkindly, like a concerned aunt. She wanted to help Tophia get in touch with resources & to get into therapy, she was practically begging Tophia to just take a break from social media, & it was all in vain. As soon as Karen spoke about setting social media aside & finding a real job, Tophia checked the fuck out. It’s kinda sad watching this two years later. Karen really could’ve helped her if Tophia had just listened.
