It is a Broadway, which has prestige attached to it, it has catchy music, so you don’t have to suffer and to top it all off, your wallet won’t catch fire from purchasing the tickets.

Cats is famous for a reason, people clued in to the benefits ages ago.

Having seen all of the shows currently on broadway(none of them legally as I’ve never been to New York) Cats is probably the most palatable to someone who isn’t accustomed to Broadway.

You see, you end up with either bad singing and good acting or good singing and bad acting. You will never have someone who is good at both in a Broadway show. As such, shows like Cats and Le Mis have an edge here since there’s nearly no talking so you avoid the bad acting. But cats veers out Les Mis by not being about France and feeling like a bit of an acid trip. The music isn’t remarkable but it isn’t terrible, and no one in cats is trying to show off, a problem that plagues Phantom and, god forbid, Wicked( I have hated wicked since it came out, it’s one of the worst shows period).
Out of all Broadway shows, Cats feels like a Vegas show. You can go in and come out retaining none of or you can come out loving it. It’s inoffensive
