That's still one of my biggest problems with the series, that IDW, like always, has amplified. There's too many active fighters for too little actual villains when pretty much every single conflict can be traced back to Eggman starting shit on some level, or the local eldritch abomination being tired of his shit. All the non-Eggman villains are either trapped in the past, of very questionable canonicity if not just non canon, stuck with no personality other than being loyal to Eggman, or fucking dead. (You can't tell me Sonic didn't CLEARLY wipe out the Deadly Six in Lost World, only for them to show up again in IDW because they were evidentially hurting for villains)
I'll never get how out of a franchise with so many good characters, they chose to focus primarily on diet cola Bowser from a game that was just okay at best.
Yeah, it's the usual pronoun stuff with one of the newest cartoons, for the most part. One of incidental characters had trooned out in the comics.

It's funny because it's a really fucking simple timeline, with most games taking place after the previous game that released. The only oddities are games like CD which got pushed back by a year which is what started the timeline talk stuff way back when. It doesn't even have weird shit like mario where they bounce his origin back and forth from being a handyman/plumber from NYC and "oh no he's not a plumber he's just a guy that lives in the mushroom kingdom" in talks about the games lore over the years.
It has many abhorrent things, but thankfully, child sex isn't one of them; that most famous image is actually of the author and a Tinder date as adults, as it turns out, but I don't blame anyone for thinking otherwise because discerning anyone's ages in that book's godawful art style is a task and a half. I'd recommend reading through @Inatrous's excellent thread about the book if you want to learn more about it, but the tl;dr it still has many depictions of sexual acts and endorses tit-chopping, so belongs nowhere near kids.
I never noticed Fang having a different number of fingers before; that's a fascinating detail. I wonder if any artists that worked on him ever mentioned the reasoning behind it.
It sounds generally feminine but has a bit of raspiness to it (when speaking in a more generally high register for males) so I'm leaning towards a male-to-female troon. At times it seems like there's a bit of lower-end tinge to their voice.
Saw this same vid weeks ago and didn't look too much deeper because on the surface it just seemed like bizarrely near official artstyle edgy "all the blood" kind of comic thing being clickbaited as some secret new sonic form or something.
