Cartoon Industry thread - Showcasing the Spergery of the Animation Industry

what does Vivziepop do that the beanmouthniggers don't?
Act like a spigot on the pipeline from CalArts to the California based tv animation studios. If she started out working with classmates from college and all her classmates weren’t products of the bean machine, things would have been easier to art direct.

I wonder why did old cartoons reference Peter lore a lot
I'm watching cartoons with my kid the other day, the Patrick Star Show comes on, and lo and behold:

OIP (8).jpeg

He's like a visual Wilhelm scream. Iconic, silly and somehow still popping up a century later. Even the DropKiwiFarms trannies had one.

Arthur is weirdly a show that went damn hard with its references sometimes, plus it also was a kids show that wasn't just saccrine drivel. It rarely pulled a punch.
Take, for instance, the weird 911 type story where the school has a small fire and the kids all have different reactions to it.
When Ms. McGrady had cancer (i think that one was pulled due to Lance Armstrong being in it).
Two whole episodes on the stock market that are actually pretty handy for understanding it.
It did get kinda bad and woke after it changed to cheap flash animation, but the show had new writers by that point too. It still did some good topics though, and having a gay marriage be covered is pretty ballsy for a PBS show.
Never forget that Arthur had a South Park parody.

I also love the fact that the finale of Arthur had DW grow up to be a cop. Now I'm picturing her getting into a police brutality scenario

You think by now they would've at least release a trailer or sneak peek instead of staying silent for months.
That pilot still isn't done?
I like 4th wall breaking referencing animation. I'm sure everyones seen this before but its neat so I'm posting it.
I never understood why Sid's class had only four kids in it. Then I realized years later that it's probably a special needs school

Remember when Adam Conover made those animated short PSAs for last year’s animation strike. Turns out he’s making a show based on it

From the reaction, some people haven’t been to happy given that it sounds like he’s shilling an animated version of his show on TruTV.

I remember my professor showing him at a writers strike and spewing all this nonsense. Isn't he like an actor? And an actor that got bigger from edgy college humor days? Got big from Adam ruins everything where portions of the show were actually not correct?
Its so odd for him to talk about the Animation field when he doesnt do any animation/nor has he gotten his start because of it. It comes of as being a snake, and the thought him voicing this gay toon guy was so retarded. As wasn't he supposed to talk about the animation industry, but now it's about yaoi and him being gay for this dad character with a son?

Also the Beavis and Buttheah reference. A classic episode there.

The weirdest was when they heavily referenced The Thin Man (i believe in the episode Strangers on a Train?). Or the sled from Citizen Kane showing up in part 2 of the episode with the Confuse the Goose game.

I probably watched a bit too much Arthur over the last 2 decades.

The earliest cartoons outsourced to another country is Rocky and Bullwinkle and Underdog to Mexico. Since the 80s, American cartoons have been outsourced to Korea, Japan and Taiwan, but mostly Korea. Nowadays, American cartoons are also outsourced to Canadian studios.

Disney Animation Studio, Pixar and Dreamworks used to be the remaining studios to do their animation in-house but Disney and Dreamworks are now relying on outsourcing.

At the rate the outsourcing is happening, how long will it take for studios to outsource to the poorer countries like Brazil (since Video Brinquedo used to be a company that creates low-rate cartoon ripoffs), India, Vietnam, and even actual shithole countries likes South Africa and Venezuela? I don't want to imagine how Pajeet or Venezuelan-made animation would look like.

What a terrible way to pitch a cartoon.
>its a slice of life cartoon

Please. Make an original plot/scenario for once. Please. I don't want relatable quirky furry character with obvious popular indie VA slapped in it as a guest VA or a whole main character as a cartoon concept again. Stuff like this really does continue to help show that indie does not always mean better. I will not be surprised if they slam Michael Kovak in there. Ugh.

Adam CON-over? The same Adam from "Adam Ruins Everything", the one I'd call a honorary Jew for being a dumbfuck he is?
Huh, incredible. I hope it fails miserably.

Awful youtuber. Awful artstyle. Awful premise.
Isn't this just Kitty Bobo, but gay? The title makes it sound like the show would be a bit more "Mad Max"-y or like Fallout.
I really wish Kitty Bobo became a thing. Then you'd have an appealing alternative to all this weepy garbage.
Even "back in the day" - stuff like this was all "Waah! It's so hard being (regular) gay!"

I think this is the right thread to mention a girl I know what trying to learn to be an animator, and they literally told her she needs to get a day job for that, and still hold it if she gets to the studio (she realised it was beyond her abilities and dropped that). This is in Russia, idk if people responsible for the great soviet cartoons had day jobs...

Well, considering how The Brain (a black character, somehow) wasn't in that timeskip bit...
All this talk about Brain being black coded and stuff (which was there to fair) and nobody brings up that all the non-mammal characters work menial labor jobs. That's where the race oppression is.

Also DW and Buster were my favorate characters when I was little. I also never quite got bullying Arthur for wearing glasses because most the population seems to need glasses these days

Makes me wonder, what does Vivziepop do that the beanmouthniggers don't?
She doesn't sand all the points off of her characters until they're round blobs
Vivzie's characters vs. Calarts characters are basically like this:
1742711917255.png

Sometimes Vivziepop art is like, yay! Characters with details and points and complex designs! No more generic blob people with as few details as possible to save money on animation/appeal to the broadest audience! But after a while it's like, ugh, too much detail and too many points and everything's overdesigned. There's gotta be a good place in the middle for character designs, and Vivize is at one end of the scale while the beanmouth brigade is at the other end.

I'm so sick of Adam Conover. From the very first Adam Ruins Everything CH shorts, to the show, to that What The F 101 thing CH tried to make, and now this, it's like literally everything he touches is just Reddit-tier lecturing. I get that his schtick is being an annoying "um actually" soyjak type, BUT IT'S FUCKING ANNOYING. It's like Captain Planet with 0 camp or charm.

Probably pretty soon, actually. Marvel and DC have been contracting a lot of South American artists for their comics since the late 2010's, and the continent has a strong history of sequential art (comics). Given how Disney has been trying to court the Latino audience with Encanto and Oye Primos, I wouldn't be surprised if they're already making in-roads down there.

South Africa I honestly doubt, just because it's a collapsing shithole that needs private security just to go for a jog. Venezuela's right the fuck out; you need a half-way function economy for an animation industry. India maybe could grow some animation studios just because they have such a large population, but like 90% of them are still illiterate peasants from the 8th century. My money would be on South East Asia: Vietnam, Laos, Singapore, and Thailand. These places have economic and cultural ties to China and the outside world, a good sized population, fairly stable economies, and more than a few animation hopefuls. At least a couple pros are ex-pats from that region.
