Atomfall - Rebellion makes MetroSTALKEROut set in the British Countryside

I'm just a bit reserved because maybe this game sounds a bit too ambitious? Or maybe too good to be true? I've heard claims of fully non-linear open worlds and no mandatory NPCs before, and they're the kind of features that get cut or toned back.
They're making the claims a couple weeks before launch. I don't think they said that in any older promotional media but I didn't do more than skim. If they're lying, then it's going to impact their sales immediately.
I don't think the game not having quests is exactly true, though. I think these "leads" function the same as quests, just with less handholding maybe. The only way they're making good on that claim is if you can sequence break everything.

This looks and sounds very interesting, I'm getting some Morrowind vibes from what man's saying.

The game comes out in less than a month. If those features were cut they’d have been cut a while ago.

If nearly/all the NPCs are killable, there might not even be a "sequence". Granted he could've been exaggerating, but the way the guy made it sound, you potentially could just sneak your way to basically the end of the game within minutes of starting, as long as you can figure out a way to not die on the way there.

Since it doesn't sound like we have any sort of SHODAN-style antagonist changing the environment to fuck with us, this game could potentially be even faster and more hilarious to speedrun than things like System Shock 1 or Morrowind.

Okay, and? Is there anything wrong with that?
A game with choices that rewards you for outside the box thinking and sequence breaks once you finished it once already sounds good to me. Kinda sounds like a "fuck around and do anything you want" kind of game like Kenshii, altho I doubt it will be anything like that. Devs are likely just blowing smoke out of their ass to make their game sounds more interesting and it will be a generic open world slop title with a few choices for each encounter.
Remember, many modern gamers don't see a problem with modern "RPGs" that railroad you to hell and back like Veilguard, KCD2 or Avowed. Something like Baldur's Gate 3 with actual choices is like magic to them, they've never seen anything like it. It's not hard to impress a retard. This could be nothing actually revolutionary or interesting, but the average modern gamer might not see the difference.

That rant came out of fucking nowhere.
Me saying "Hmm, interesting, seems this game may be like xyz" was not me somehow saying there's 'something wrong with that'.

I only just heard about this game existing for the first time when I got out of bed this morning. I'm simply sitting here going "Hmm, interesting" and wanting to see more about it before I get all carried away.

I only know Rebellion for one thing, which is SENZA, and if I've played any of their other stuff, I'm unaware it's from them. I don't hear they're making this game and just by default expect they're going to deliver on everything, frankly I don't even know what bar of quality to expect. I'm here to find out about it.

Am I the only one tired of seeing the weird retro-future 60's art style in games? It just comes across as goofy and ridiculous. If they really want to be edgy and new, set it in the 60's but have stuff that looks actually militaristic instead of a goofy egg on legs. Have guys packing FAL's but modern-style body armor thanks to materials science advancing beyond what it actually was IRL.

I would rather see more games set in the 70s, it's a really underused era in gaming. You can have more modern technology but still have it be retro, I'm thinking everybody is going for 50s and 60s only because Fallout and Bioshock got so big.

Rebellion is known for making incredibly janky, buggy games with tons of weapon skin DLC but never fixing the bugs, the hitler mission in SE5 is still bugged to hell. Oh and of course they are fully on the DEI bandwagon. The last two Sniper Elite's had nigger boss "women" leading the resistance in france
BUT THEY'RE THE RESISTANCE MAAAAAAN! OBVIOUSLY THEY'D FIGHT THE NAHZEES! #gypsydanger

I'm interested in what they might deliver with Atomfall, because I like Rebellion as a company, having played a ton of their games release thus far. I might even play it on release. One of the two brother CEOs, Jason Kingsley, has a youtube channel where he talks about medieval England and its people and customs, as well as talking a lot about jousting (which he does for fun) and armour and shit. Really great channel, seems like a really great guy, so while I'd honestly be keen to see their take on Kingdom Come: Deliverance - England Edition, they've certainly eaten a huge part of the "Throw a chick in it and make her a nigger"-cake.

I wanna see the full gamut of weapons the game has, especially the guns. I’ve so far only seen a Hi-Power, Webley Revolver, a single shot shotgun, a bolt action rifle and FALs in the hands of the military.

Maybe several years ago but recently he’s much more of an Obsidian shill if anything. I’m merely posting some reviews.

Yeah I like Matty. People call him a shill but I think its just because he keeps a positive attitude. He certainly has given negative reviews to Dragon Age, Ass creed, avowed and the Starfield DLC. So Im not particularly sure what he has been shilling lately.

He's a very big Bethesda shill, or at least used to be. I think after Starfield, he realized that they're not all they're amped up to be and went back to playing older vidya like many of us.
IGN hates it. Time to take a look.
Now that's a glowing recommendation if I've ever heard one.

Why? Because he likes Bethesda’s run of games from Morrowind to Fallout 4? You know….Like 95% of normal people do?

Bethesda has been pretty universally dunked on since 2018. Some of it deservedly, some of it definitely not. Bethesda is in their “Sonic was never that good” era right now. Can they crawl out of it? Maybe. Todd showed that he can make a good game still since he was heavily involved with Indiana Jones.
and went back to playing older vidya like many of us.
He has a separate channel for that and has for years, it’s called Retro Rebound.
Please don’t start with your AndyPantsGaming crap right now.

You glow so much I can see your FBI Badge from here.

He’s a shill for not hating Starfield or Avowed enough. Simply thinking they’re “okay” is shilling.

Back to Atomfall. I’m trying not to get hyped, but hearing IGN hates it and a lot of reviewers think it’s good is making me want to play it all the more. I like the idea that you have to find perks like they’re items. Cool stuff.
