Assassin's Creed thread

All of you came up with great ideas as to how an Assassin's Creed WW2 game could work. From a storytelling standpoint, all your ideas could work provided Ubisoft was willing to put in the effort. Unfortunately, as current events have shown, they are not willing to.

Now, allow me to throw my hat into the ring with some gameplay ideas: In the age of the machine gun, a silent assassin is the deadliest as he enters and leaves without a sound. Most people will not notice if a general was killed unless a gunshot was heard. In this era, daggers and blowguns are feared because of how silently they kill. We could totally have AC in this time period. Also, the need for spies gave rise to the need for spy gear. There is a lot that could be done with that too.

Back when it was somewhat forced to stay in how it loosely started and actually had some story, not the greatest story but least a decent one.
The character (and overarching story) died all the way back in 2012, and in all that time Ubi hasn't been able to actually string together a narrative.

The 2012 mayan apocalypse was hinted at all the way back in AC1 and now they can't even keep a plotline for more than 2 games. FFS they killed off the series main villain in a random spinoff comicbook no one read.

Sounds like 343i lol

What? I didn't link, post, or do anything regarding Paul Tassi. I called out SmashJT for being an idiot and not taking 2 seconds to check something about Yasuke Simulator.
I got distracted.
I meant to remark on yours the spike may have been legitimate as Asmongold has an audience of about 45k by himself.

One of the funnest things about Ezio Trilogy was meeting da Vinci, and he becomes your equivalent of Q giving you all sorts of gizmos to play with. If the game was set in WW1 period, we could have Tesla help because he would be in his bankrupt mad scientist era by then.

Andy Chalk wrote this PC Gamer clickbait article praising FightinCowboy for raging at gamers criticizing Assassin's Creed Shadows. He's even provoking gamers by calling them "whining commenters".

And on his Bsky, he's calling gamers "gangs of bitches".

I can understand the "doing well" cope, Ubisoft certainly wants people to eat that narrative up, but anyone who says the game is "very good" has either not played it or is being paid by Ubisoft.

It's the same half-baked glitchy MTX filled shit that barely runs like every other Ubi game, only this time the voice actors sound like AI and the story is even more forgettable. Even if all the culture war beefing literally didn't exist the game would still be shit just from a basic video game standpoint, it's a 5/10 at best.

They failed to create hype the usual way so they're now rage baiting. I don't care, this game already failed and I'm simply waiting for the layoffs. "Strange buzzing insect" indeed.

That reminds me of the ideas of how a Cold War era AC would work. Spy gadgets, encouragement of stealth to avoid a nuclear war, all the types of documents that might be important and why do we not add a Bond-style villain? He would fit right in with the Cold War-era Bond theme. Hell, let's add ninja Assassins to reference the ninja craze.

At a certain point why even make it an Assassin's Creed game? Just create a new ip once in a fucking while.

The AC formula is very flexible IF you are willing to put some work in.

I mean, that was basically Watch_Dogs
My idea is for it to be set in the USSR or one of its Iron Curtain colonies. Lower technology level and such. People from those places felt they traveled in time when visiting the West. The USSR did not even have toilet paper in wide availability until at its very end. It would be like Syndicate was only with TVs and cars.

Never heard of that streamer/content creator.
Same, actually. Now this may be a controversial opinion, but I don't think crashing out on-stream and sperging out at your own viewers is a good thing under any circumstance. Even if you have the reddit-approved wholesome chungus 100 opinions, shitting on your own viewers for DARING to make fun of a game you're playing is a retarded look. You aren't suddenly in the green because you crashed out with the "correct" opinions.

AC Shadows is a poorly made game by a horrific soulless company, you do not want to die on a hill defending them. Even if you adore the game and wish Yasuke was real so he could plow your wife just like in the game, getting pissy at people who think it's bad is not the right option. It makes you look like an overly-emotional shill.

With the Hitman reboot concluded IOI is actively working on their Bond game, so even if Ubi magically generated the 2 billion dollars they need to stave off death for another generation any attempts at modernizing AC is doomed to be kneecapped by a substantially more talented developer doing it better.

All this theorycrafting about a 1900's entry is the kind of thing they should have been acting on 12+ years ago and the result of them dragging their feet is that they've forever pidgeonholed the franchise into increasingly boring historical gameplay scenarios or else get butchered by comparisons to the likes of Red Dead or Mafia. Even if Shadows does well Japan was the "break glass in case of emergency" setting, and with it burned off the franchise is at the end of it's rope.
