Do the killmoves/finishers in Shadows look really ass to anyone else? They kinda remind me of the janky unfinished ones in Skyrim that everyone turns off.

While I appreciate them bringing back finishers instead of just having enemies ragdoll like the other rpg games, the ones in shadows do feel really wonky. Maybe not unfinished per se, but definitely janky and kinda silly. Especially with the stupid dramatic zoom-ins the camera does during them.

There's one that I've seen like 400 times where Yasuke cleaves both the dude's arms and lops off his head with his naginata like he's fuckin' Kratos. It feels more like a Mortal Kombat move than something from assassins creed lmao. The more over-the-top violence just feels goofy in a game like this. (and tbf this was actually a problem I had with the ones in revelations too, albeit to a lesser degree.)

I think it is partly the fault of having two protagonists who have different fighting styles and weapon types. Rather than spend time polishing one character's move set they half ass it between the two.

Andy Chalk wrote this PC Gamer clickbait article praising FightinCowboy for raging at gamers criticizing Assassin's Creed Shadows. He's even provoking gamers by calling them "whining commenters".

And on his Bsky, he's calling gamers "gangs of bitches".

I'd get this kind of defense if it was some kind of new woke IP to rally behind but it's literally the same AC slop we've had since Origins. Take away all the drama and you're still just left with the latest Ubislop regurgitation they probably happily shat on in the past before you played a zesty black man.

That's because they know if this game flopped, then Ubisoft and other big corps will course correct themselves and abandoned all the woke bs. So it was not just a go big or die moment for Ubisoft, it is also for the shills and the journos

Trouble is with these lame woke games taking years to make, there's still years worth of them in the production pipeline at studios. You'll see games in 2027 that started production in 2022. It also doesn't guarantee clearing out all of the management responsible for the decisions to do the dumb woke shit either.

Not just management, but progressive devs have absolutely infested game studios. Just because management stops pandering doesn't mean the rank and file aren't tainting things with their input.

It doesn't help that the retards that caused woke flops aren't made jobless. Forspoken was a huge critical and commercial flop and gamers cheered upon hearing that the dev, Luminous Productions, was no more. What they didn't notice was that Square Enix didn't fire the devs, they absorbed them back into the company. Now those retards got merged with Creative Business Unit 2 and can now potentially fuck with Dragon Quest, Nier, Bravely Default, and Octopath Traveler.

Good, maybe if they poison their own bread and butter then Squeenix will have to take a good, hard look at itself. Or, you know, keep losing money, either one works.

Nah, they will never EVER do a WW2 game became because the wide spread use of more modern firearms will force them to fundamentally change their core combat mechanics and level design.
Scale it down to being about the French Resistance rather than about the war as a whole. A protagonist that parkours around an old city taking out VIP targets will be a true 'return to form'. The ubiquity of modern firearms will simply ensure there are real consequences for fucking up stealth.

Spot on, the problem is no longer just upper management pandering to minorities, the actual devs are probably worse nowadays.

I remember when people being disappointed in a game for whatever reason and vocalizing it online would always spawn the "don't blame the devs blame the management" people.
Well nowadays with how extremely hostile the devs usually are towards their own fanbase its very much reasonable to blame the devs and put them on blast.

I suppose its a good thing most devs are hostile retards online so you know what games to avoid though.

non-woke and competent management can just fire retards for that shit. Part of management is making sure that the rank and file is doing their job, the way they were told to do it. I didn't mean executives at publishers, I mean the actual project and team managers.

Not if you’re in France you can’t.

Janky? Yes. Unfinished? I don't think so. Even there are unarmed finishers animations which nobody cares in vanilla Skyrim 'cus unarmed is ass without mods.
But the finishers on you and the sprint charge animations are the worst. Always disabling them.

It’s not impossible. I know that the French are very autistic about their cultural exports and whatnot so they might just get bailed out by the frog government.
Ubisoft is equally big part Canadian as it is French nowdays. I hope both their governments bail them out so they can collapse that much quicker.

Hmm. I'm in two minds about the highest stealth difficulty - enemies spot you really quickly, and they react to a lot more sound (which in turn makes the stealth engravings much more valuable), but elevation isn't the protection it was. They can see you scurry around on roof tops, which does remind you humans are capable of looking upwards, but this clearly isn't how the game was designed around.

Will stick with it a bit longer, though. Combat is in a sweet spot.
