Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

  • Happy Easter!
Pokemon Unbound dialogue and story is so damn irritating that I started mashing A after a while.

Why is it so hard to make a pokemon game story just good? I don't want a masterpiece, I just want something acceptable.

Which is funny because I really like the mini quests and little stories, but the main story is so bad. I feel like every story uses legendaries all the time instead of using the world of pokemon instead.

Finally finished Elite Four in Fire Red Remixed. Now all I have left is the Sevii Islands postgame and catching all the Box Legendaries the whole way thru. Thanks to Trigger's PC I also have access to the event tickets, which will let me get bankable Deoxys/Lugia/Ho-Oh on top of that.
Interesting observation: The shop at Indigo Plateau sells all the Pokeballs normally available from shops(ie no Master or Safari Balls), this includes being able to buy Premium Balls for measly 200 Yen per pop to make up for them not being included every 10 Pokeballs purchased like in other games in FRLG. This means makes ball farming even easier to do from now, just like how in NeXt Gen romhack you can buy PP Ups and Ethers in a shop.
The downside is that for some reason, the Pokemon Center doesn't work in this building. There is no script for the lady to take your Pokemon and heal them. The PC works just fine so you can just deposit/withdraw your team, pretty weird but definitely not the first script error I've seen so far. As usual, no actual different teams for the E4, it's just new Pokemon encounters.
I might do my write up for the mod today, depending on how lucky I get in capturing all the Legendaries. If not, then sometime soon, I don't really have a lot to say.

Edit:
My DS charging and I'm doing something else right now in the meanwhile, but to avoid double posting I want to share something I just found in my folder, kek

/vp/ made a song to celebrate the disastrous reveal of Sword/Shield. This was nearly 10 years ago now BTW.

Then you wonder why the game didn't sell
It doesn't change the fact that this is your de-facto Stadium 3. You're never getting Stadium 4 or it's spiritual successor if one hasn't come out in nearly 20 years already, let it go.
Battle Revolution had 36 pokemon in its rental roster and the only stage 3 Pokemon was Pidgeot. The OG Japanese Pokemon Stadium had more Pokemon and with the exception of Pikachu they were all fully evolved.

Want to talk again about how Battle Revolution was Pokemon Stadium 3?
The scope was far too narrow to be considered a proper Stadium entry, probably why they didn't call it that. Even Stadium 1 had more meat on its bones, let alone Stadium 2. Stadium 3 should be packed with content, Revolution also had some bad design decisions as on top of its missing features & content. They're incomparable beyond the core concept of "Pokemon battling in 3D without needing raise them". If it underperformed then they only have themselves to blame for a half-baked title.
Revolution was too clunky to be a proper Stadium successor. Not being able to handpick your rental team really really hurt it. If I remember right, you had to do a sort of challenge cup with preselected teams and could only change them through a Battle Factory-like 1 for 1 system. It's a lot of hoops for something that was already figured out in Stadium.
All of the above is a moot point. The reason why there are no more Stadium games is due to their main draw being seeing your Pokémon in 3D. Once X and Y made 3D the default, The Pokémon Company decided tha the Stadium series is redundant.

What happened to Gen 5, then?

No-can-do on that, it will take me a while still since I am getting some bad RNG. Over 30 max repels and only one encounter with Deoxys, and I still haven't caught it that try either. Had to reload and have to try again later, and that's only my first post-game legendary on the list.
Speaking of which, it's found in Icefall Cave. An alien virus inside a snowy, nearly abandoned locale? I wonder if it's a reference to "The Thing".
The way I'd play a 2d Pokemon game with Stadium mechanics. The closest thing is Battle Frontier, I think.
Colosseum and Gale of Darkness both have a 100 battle challenge called "Mt Battle", with Colosseum additionally having 100 extra trainers in Battle Mode, which is just Stadium Rules instead of single player Pokemon rules(Select 4 out of 6 Pokemon, competitive rules, get a retry for a perfect win ect.)
Additionally, the romhacks I covered(Grand Colosseum and NeXt Gen) have entirely new teams in their Mt Battle challenges, so that doubles the amount of trainers you get. It's not 2D per say, but not many people know about the Mt Battle challenge or care to take it. You even get a special Ho-Oh if you complete Colosseum Battle Mode ladder in one sitting(word of advice, it took me 8 hours) and in every other ladder, your Pokemon get a special ribbon if you completed all 100 battles with the same party.

Gen1 really didn't fluff the legendaries up, in fact you had to actually read documents in a burnt building in order to figure out who the hell Mew and Mewtwo even were... and that was around Gym 7. Not even the birds were hyped up. The story was mostly kept to "boy goes on Pokemon quest but inadvertently saves the day by getting rid of mobsters". It wasn't until gen2 that the legedaries because the focus, but even then, you didn't HAVE to go to them to progress through the story in Gen2 (at least not in GS... Crystal tried to shove Suicune down everyone's throats).

I'm sure there are fan games that don't have legendaries as the center plot of the story, but i haven't played many fan games that weren't either updates of the original games, or straight-up shitposts (Pokemon Clover), so I wouldn't know.

Z-A leak season is kicking into full swing, apparently.

4chan's currently shitting its pants over Z-A supposedly having 27 new Megas, courtesy of this guy, who's been accurately leaking things since last summer's Nintendo Direct.

However, if I have my schizophrenic story straight, this image and the roster depicted on it actually comes from a rogue playtester from Brazil who's been transmitting info to Centro and his usual posse of retarded clout-chasers through Discord. Here's a Portuguese article regarding the leaks that I can't read for shit because my skin isn't brown. I doubt it has anything useful or informative in it but if someone can speak Portuguese then feel free to correct me I guess.

Anyways, this should all be taken with a massive grain of salt as usual. It's a weird roster that I definitely wouldn't mind I'd be most upset at the starters getting megas instead of regional variants, really, just due to pattern autism and what that would do to the cohesion of the Johto trio but the only real confirmations here are Zygarde and Zeraora due to actual company emails confirming their existence in October.

This might not even be all of them, since supposedly it's from an August 2024 build and there's always a chance that things get added last-minute (usually not Pokémon designs, but it happened with Convergent Gyarados in SV so I can see it happening again with Z-A), but frankly I'd be surprised if it's not.

(The site keeps freezing when I try to add this image to the original post, can some mod please merge this doublepost into the post above it? thanks)

EDIT: for some added schizophrenia, here's Khu's usual riddle. It was posted before the roster, but that doesn't make it any more credible. Khu's been getting leaks wrong for years now and his stuff should not be trusted any more than Centro's is.

No hoenn pokemon but of course kanto gets in

As always

“No Hoenn Pokémon” nigger half of all Mega Evolutions are Hoenn Pokémon. The four Kanto Pokémon here only bring the Kanto Megas to parity with the Hoenn Megas, and that’s only because of Charizard and Mewtwo having two apiece.
Nigger we all know Mega Zard Z is coming.

And that was then. This is about now, even later gens should be on this list. For example gen 2 only gets two spots because starters.

We never know how do they choose whoever gets an alt, but we clearly can see that Kanto always get a variant no matter what and no matter which gimmick.

Listen, I’m actually super on-board with Mega Charizard Z and Mega Mewtwo Z. I love Mega Evolution as a gimmick, Kanto-love and all, and it’s been more than a decade so they may as well lean into this gimmick.

Even then, to say Hoenn is underrepresented as opposed to Johto’s 6 or Sinnoh’s 5 or Unova’s 1 or Kalos’ 1 is disingenuous. Even this list brings the latter most two to 6 and 5 when the Kalos starters should have had Megas from the outset. Frankly, there’s no reason to not also have Xerneas and Yveltal Megas as well if this game is going to take place after X and Y.

Hoenn already is over represented with Megas, adding more would simply exacerbate things. There’s also no other good enough Gen 3 Pokémon barring Exploud and maybe Wailord to receive one.

Jokes aside, yeah. Gen 3 got so many megas in ORAS that I (premiere gen 3 fangirl) am more than okay with this. It opens up more room for cross-gen evos, after all. I do hope most of the oras megas are obtainable in Z-A though, instead of just the three-ish they showed in the trailer.

barring Exploud
based beyond belief, you get a pass for now

Apparently PokeRemixStudio and PilotRedSun are the same person?
Honestly, I can see it. I don't know if this is rumor or fact, but listening to the guy's stuff had me drawing comparisons before I even read your post.

I wonder why he came back to Pokémon remixes in 2024 though? That's definitely what gave him away to my ears, the older stuff is too generic to really make out anything PRS-sounding.

EDIT: he did some in 2019 that I didn't notice. So he took a 9 year break, then left for another 5. Maybe he just makes these when he's in the mood lol

You know, I'd actually be excited for more Megas if it wasn't obvious that they are never coming back when the next mainline series of games shows up.

Unless they bring them back postgame like they did with SM/USUM, this just feels like GameFreak yet again dangling a bunch of keys in front of everyone to sucker them into buying the game because they know damn well Megas are popular as hell, even today.
