I think they keep churning these out because kids have no taste and will watch anything with bright colors and talking animals.

Pictured below: a weird and unpleasant thing. Fits his game perfectly because while you can kind of see how he'd be considered a cute mascot, he's really more of an ugly ass 3D render you'd find in old Donkey Kong Country promotional material. Easily corrupted and made scary due to this strategic (or perhaps just stupid and lucky) character design.

It does a bit, still if they don't crap out 5 or 6 direct-to-video sequels, I'm fine with this movie anyway. I got my $5 worth out of seeing it on opening day.
I wil say the director of this did mention how they designed these guys with budget in mind. Bodi wears a cap to prevent the need to animate his hair as Tibetan Mastiffs are known for their lion mane-like hair. I suppose this also explained how Body's dad gets his haircuts at Floyd's barbershop (nice ref. here).

There's no US release for this one, but BluRay/DVD's can be found in a few places (not to mention going online and dig around for those that simply go the 'free' route here).

Not hard to do when you're appealing mostly to SJWs. I daresay TTG! has a better grasp at the whole design thing, if not much else, knowing how over-hated that show honestly is...

I wouldn't go on to say that they're THA WURST DEESIGNS EVUR, but the knights in Fire Emblem Awakening and Fates deserve a mention:
I've seen some weird armor designs in video games, but these just take the cake. The mutated football pads look totally unnecessary.
The Knight's quite silly, but at least the faces can be seen so it's not that uncaney valley-like. The GK, however, would be semi-decent IF NOT FOR THE FUCKING HELMET OH MY GOD KOSAKIHARA WHY.
At least the Great Knight design got a decent helmet in Fates, the Knight and Generals still look stupid as hecke.
(Dunno why, tho, but I kinda have a soft spot for the Berserker one. Oops?)

The Project Diva series has many, many terrible designs, but I think Miku's "Purple Ageha" module is by far the worst:
Looks like a monochromatic gaudy mess, right? But it's actually even worse than it initially appears, because they also decided to randomly give Miku a third pigtail coming out of her ass:
They even made it a slightly different color from everything else. Why?

From this picture, I thought it was some 'Le Sad and Deproosed Animu Gurl' type of webseries that was 2d and had terrible animation but was pretty okay everywhere else
