you are correct, goes to show how fucked it is, Im using it to prove my point and messed up

but my point stands on question 1 you circled both the 1 and the dot when it clearly says only circle the letter or number

on question 4 you completely failed to consider the dot is the smallest "word" in the question

they are designed to not be won, if they want you to win they will let you and if not there will always be somthing

kinda like when a cop pulls ya over and wants to write ya a ticket, there is always somthing
You can draw a line around something. Holy fuck are you dumb, the single biggest sign of a lack of intelligence is expecting people from the past to use todays vernacular. This is why we have ghetto shakespeare. Gee, I dunno how you would cover something with a line instead of a circle, BIG CONUNDRUM! Oh wait, a square is made up of four lines meeting at 90 degree angles, fuck. Apparently expecting people involved in politics to be able to determing between a square and a circle is fascism.

Oh, "the opposite of hip". I know squares.

You did not.

Draw a line around the first number for 1 (circle it).
Cross out the longest word in 3, don't strike it through.
Again, a circle for number four.
Circle the first first letter of the alphabet (a) for five.
And for six only one circle should enclose another. Draw three, one engulfed by another.

The tests are intended to be 'gotchas' with instructions meant to be interpreted in the most 'gotcha' way possible.
Are we sure that these are "gotchas"?

you circled in question 1 when when you should have drawn line, same in question 4, also the dot could be called the correct answer to
You're wrong on all of these points. The purpose of the test there is to show that the person taking it is literate enough to understand that a "line around" is the same thing as circling. As another guy said, a period is not a word. These aren't ambiguous; you're just not literate to the degree required by the test. That doesn't mean you're "dumb"; it just means you're not (currently) as good at interpreting and writing text as you could be.

I'm not being arrogant, as it's possible that I also failed. Here's my result:

As you can see, I drew three concentric circles at the end. I was actually going to do what @DickMain said for the last question and leave one circle off to the side, but I second-guessed myself and assumed that they meant "one inside the other" in the telescopic sense.

This doesn't mean that the test is "arbitrary": it may simply mean that I'm not literate enough to vote in the state of Louisiana. None of the other questions are arbitrary; on any reading comprehension test (such as the relevant portions of the SAT and LSAT), they're going to have similar apparent "trick questions". That's what a reading comprehension test is; you have to choose the best answer among possible answers.

Is it actually a documented fact that there weren't uniform standards for the answers people were expected to have?

Edit: saw the article with the full test. Yeah, that's impossible in ten minutes.

Sam Hyde's response about if he's racist is "I'm no more racist than your average black guy"
Right, by which he means that his level of racism is the human baseline (his opinion) and that aversion to it is a white pathology (also his opinion).

What is a square but four connected lines? A circle is one continuous line. But you could make an argument for either being wrong the way the question is written, which I imagine is the point.

Considering what the voting rights were when the United States was founded this is rather liberal.

I covered this in another thread, but the original voting rights were more about ensuring the only people who directed the course of the country were those with a vested interest in seeing it succeed. Land was massive economic commitment you couldn't just pick up and leave.

With modern mobile capital, I'm not sure what the fix is, but I think "being on government assistance means you don't get to vote in federal elections" would be a good starting point.

This is what I mean with Vance, 1 step forward 2 steps back. I want to like him but he does stupid shit that undermines the positions I like him on. Striking Yemen is bailing out Europe ? Really nigga really ?
This shit is almost certainly a gay op.
There's no arguments, no division, no dumb questions, no slip ups or even typos I saw. Its all 200% on brand for Vance (Fuck the Eurofags, elect me and I'll fuck them all to death). It reads like fake corporate example chat you'd see in yearly compliance training. I'm pretty sure they chose the most deranged Rag they could with the least savy & most Dunning-Kruger staff possible that would immediately run with the story without fact checking or asking questions.

Drawing a circle is technically different from drawing a line around something as a circle should be symetric, drawing a line around the word would likely be elongated and you don't get into sematics about Oval/Elipse, etc.
I also got the impression the idea was to use as many different sequences of words as possible to describe similar actions ensure you are able to process the meaning behind something - be actually literate - and not just the ability to recognize a string of shapes and know "oh when i see that I'm supposed to do this"

I did a little bit of digging with DW+. They even had a Bluey children's cartoon ripoff that was hell to watch AND work for.

The issue with The Daily Wire is exactly what's wrong with liberals today. Everything they do, make or consume is entirely centered around their politics. It's basically force feeding you their way of thinking and having the gall to ask YOU to pay for it.

The age old question of what are they conserving is quite simple for them: Israel. American conservatism is merely a backdrop since it's easier to interject and blend in.
which is a shame cuz I really thought what is a woman and lady ballers was really good...

I have a better idea than voter ID. If you are a citizen and can't meet the basic requirements for military service you don't get to vote
Starship Troopers is fine as science fiction, not reality.

Exactly why I like Eric July’s comics better. It’s not made to “Own The Libs.”
It’s not Woke or Anti-Woke. It’s just stories and whatnot. Now, there’s nothing wrong with having a Christian show or having patriotic themes and showcasing that traditional conservative values is good. But do it in a way that isn’t “LIBTARDS DESTROYED!”

The Daily Wire specifically.
Why is the dude in this video pausing so often?
It’s Saberspark, he’s a Retard.
Heavy-handed messaging in media doesn't always result in the best propaganda. Sometimes a more subtle touch is needed to get your point across
Exactly. Captain Planet wasn’t woke, it just taught kids that polluting was bad. Look at GI-Joe and He-Man as well. Both shows taught kids moral lessons about treating others with respect and other basic principles. They have strong female characters that don’t exist to make the men feel inadequate, etc. I could go on and on.
I would think a modern example would be either Fallout: New Vegas
New Vegas is not subtle nor is it nuanced. It’s Fallout 3 DLC with minor gameplay improvements.

Yeah, they're intended to be difficult to read, but not in such a way that you can't technically interpret them in another way. It was said before but they're designed in a way where the administrator of the test has three or four of these 'trap' questions to catch you on. With a margin of error of 'none' and not really being clear on what exactly is meant by 'do nothing more or nothing less than what is asked' they're intended to selectively filter people at the administrator's discretion.

If some Pedro hopped the border and got one on a technicality there's a good chance it'll be one of the ones you can weasel him out of a pass with, or do exactly what's been argued that "no draw a square; a series of lines". They're like redneck riddles.

I assure you I'm taking this as seriously as a drunk dude sitting on a porch who has been through about 20 beers can take arguments about geometry.
im just messing around my good buddy, I also messed up my first go on it, glass houses and all that...

If someone tries to deny you the right to vote on the particulars of shapes then just point out that Plato was a faggot and that Aristotle was right, then point out Platos line of thinking lead to faggots like Hegel then obliterate their balls with s jackhammer. No charges will be pressed because you were right.

And Mods thought the captain planet spergong was bad!

Just tell them "Archimedes burnt ships down with giant mirrors" and that should be all the nerd rep you need.

Bioshock 2 is decent and fixed a lot of issues I had with the original game but it feels too much like an action game for me. I liked the first one because it was a spiritual successor to System Shock and captured that atmosphere where you never really feel like you're fully in control of the situation. In BS2 you're one-handing a shotgun capping motherfuckers in the first hour and by the midgame I was consistently maxed out on health and EVE.

Also Sofia Lamb is a shit villain. Andrew Ryan felt properly omnipotent and dangerous and his weird extreme libertarian motivations felt understandable and grounded. Lamb never really has that kind of presence and was more in the right place at the right time for things to happen the way they did. I think her mother-father relationship with Delta was cool but it barely got explored. Nobody really feels like a well-developed character except for Lamb and Delta. She wants to be SHODAN but she's, like...I dunno, a philosophy professor who read too much Marx and decided to start a cult, but without the charisma to really sell it.
I only played the first one (thought it was a great game). It just felt different then most other video games on the market. Huh, there is a Switch port of BioShock. Weird

Good thing literacy tests like this don't exist anymore now, so there we go.

Edit: saw the article with the full test. Yeah, that's impossible in ten minutes.
Yep, that's way too long since the majority of the questions require focus. It's basically playing riddles with words, when it was expected that their African-American counterparts would be less educated to solve them AND the proctor could interpret the questions how HE would see fit.
