This is absolutely just cutting content for the sake of making a big deal out of re-introducing it. AT monsters were also mostly misses with only a few hits that were absolutely the exception to the rule, so I'm not gonna get my hopes up too much about AT Rey. Mizu is a fun monster, but an absolute jobber that should never be super duper ultra postgame title update material. Zoh not having a way to re fight it or any materials and gear is the distilled essence of inventing a problem to drip feed you the solution, though I will admit they cleared my very low expectation that they would give high rank Zoh a dedicated title update. Again, no hub until a title update is fucking dire. The biggest thing they announced isn't even for this title update, and will have to wait another 3 months at least, and I'm not holding my breath that they aren't going to colossally fuck up Lagi.

The problem that sours me is that they showcase what should have been in the game day one but then present it like it's a bonus "you should thank us" gift. They are adding a way for us to see what endemic life we have captured but there is still no house or lodging for us to place them. (Mind you if you capture more than 2K creatures the game will automatically delete the stuff you caught without you having choice in what gets deleted.)

Zoh Shia is still such a huge disappointment, for a HUGE civilization ending monster, equivalent to a AI uprising, being able to just kill it with a stick in LR was a mistake. I still fucking hate what it represents but it's presentation and relevance is just salt in a wound. Guardian Arkveld should have been the ending of LR story, and Zoh should have been shelved or at least should have been given the same treatment as a siege monster or at least similar to xeno'jiiva. Jin Dahaad had more pomp and circumstance in it's hunt than Zoh did.

There's no water combat so it's already borked as far as I'm concerned. Great to have him and all, but without it his fight is just meh.
Yep, I was going to say that, I have a feeling Lagi will just be thunder Uth Duna. It'll run up to the reservoir when it's weak and do flippy things in the water before jumping back out.
It would have been a better choice to use Ivory, they already showed they're fine using variants over the originals with Ebony and Fulger. But fans wanted Lagi and it will probably be GU Lagi 2.0. I hope not but I have a inkling it will.

GU Lagi and especially hyper Lagi is just an upgraded and more obnoxious Khezu, MH Tri and 3U Lagiacrus was one of the best fights in the series because you're on his turf, using a control scheme you aren't used to while he can do somersaults around your ass. I hope Wilds Lagi takes more notes from Ivory Lagiacrus and adds new moves instead of the gay geometric Kirin lightning bolts

you GU fans are fucking keks
If you can't fight him underwater it doesn't count as lagi.
You have completely misunderstood what I was saying. Tri/3U Lagi is an absolute 80-20 between its underwater and land fights. GU Lagi is objectively a bit better than the land fight in tri, but utterly pales in comparison to and doesn't even begin to make up for the lack of the underwater part of the fight. What I'm saying is that I expect wilds version of Lagi to be so dire, it will make us long for even GU's bastard Lagi.

I've now tried every weapon except Hunting Horn (I fear it.) the weapons all feel great in this game. Lance used to seem boring to me but I love "boxing" the monsters and staying in their face constantly.

Tempered Gore Magala is quite the difficulty spike, as I have only completed it once with other hunters. Every other time my comrades wiped in less than 10 minutes, and I fainted a few times too. Hopefully we see more monsters like him as the updates roll out.

I'm glad we are getting the hub. The update is free and came within a month. Game was probably rushed to meet quarterly earnings reports, but they are clearly busting their ass to make this the flagship Capcom game.

Do you guys actually prefer the World and Rise story over Wilds? I don't remember a thing about world's story besides Zora and Nerg. Did rise have a story?

That's such a fucking sad way to put it that you made me feel some type of way :lossmanjack:

I do remember people back in Tri online willing to wait for 10+ mins until Lagi moved from zone 11 all the way to zone 9 or 5 before they even started fighting him and getting mad and bitching at you if you went for it, even crying in the chat.
It's been 15 years but I blame those faggots for this.

I don't care about the story, fucking remove the story, delete it!
Kill MH story. Behead MH story. Roundhouse kick a MH story into the concrete. Slam dunk a MH story baby into the trashcan. Crucify filthy Natas. Defec----

As a matter o'fact this is the worst story because it's so in your face and present, even world wasn't this bad and at least it had bad funny dialogue and silly characters, Wilds fucking dares to take itself seriously.
These used to be the games where you could to just jump in and fight bosses no bullshit in between, just skipping all the NPC dialogue, so any MH that has "more" story is bad.

Having just fought hyper Lagi yesterday, FUCK ME was he way more awful than I remember. I feel bad for anyone having GU Lagi as their first Lagi experience (probably a lot).

Having God knows how many hours in Tri, I never encountered anyone even closely like that, my condolences if you had that happen.

Yesn't. Yes because Worldborne's story (I don't recall much of Rise's story so I can't comment) wasn't shoved down your throat nearly as much and doesn't waste as much of your time with it. I also found Worldborne's story slightly interesting once you remove any notion of the Handler's voice from it (I.E. read about it in your of time). I'd imagine Rise has more interesting characters but honestly it's hard for me to give a fuck regardless unless they're noticeably interesting.
That's where the no comes in, MH is not known and should not be known for its well thought out story or compelling characters (even as of Wilds, as talented writers are a dying breed), these should be a mildly interesting but largely ignorable set piece like pretty much any other mainline MH game.
>"Hunter! This Monster is causing us grief, go hunt it and wear it's skin to save our village!"
>"Yes Chief. Glory to Moga Village."
A MH game's story should be a 5 minute read when put together. It should have minimal cutscenes, it should not have character trying and failing to voice act in your face, it should not have forced walk-alongs and on-rails sections (the only rails a MH game should have is on Gogmazios's arena), it should not have "this monster is a living being just like we are" because I'm going to take said life and use it to beat another monster's life with it. It does not need some whiney streetshitting child telling me if I'm allowed to hunt this monster nor a handler that doesn't sit on her ass back at camp or HQ, be pretty, and shut the fuck up until I need her. justlikearealwomenshould
Simply put, MH should only focus on the gameplay of the game. I prefer World's less forced story (again, don't care about Rise so no comment) over Wilds, but I'd actually prefer neither's"story."

Not sure how far is your progression? Decos, armor sets, weapon choice as in normal elemental weapons are serviceable if you don't want to touch Artian weapons. Rathalos Lance is pretty good, innated Cr.Boost 3 and fire element is good against Gore.
I mean as in, upgrading armor to max level with armor spheres, more defense does make much difference. Using other defensive or utility decos like ear plugs, evade window or extender (pick one). Even divine blessing as training wheels if you have to. I don't see any shame of using these things for starter learning. But maybe weapon deco Ironwall 3 - Guard 3 if you have it, convenient to block multiple attacks continuously.

Gore is quite spastic, more players mean more of it running back and forward. But the safest place is literally standing right under its head. Any form of big slam or huge frenzy waves one-shot potential has big windup (Gore standing up straight). You can side roll for former and roll from head position into hind legs to dodge for latter case. Probably perfect guard the big slam too. I think as Lance or any shield weapon can easily perfect guard many Gore moves. This game has decent amount of perfect guard frames. May replacing Guard 3 with Guard Up 3 instead if you are "good enough" with perfect guard.
When Gore flies up and tries to slam, it usually overshoot behind you as melee anyway. No need to panic dodge forward.

Iceshard cliffs map in general is kinda meh. Some areas are kinda small, it can be quite tricky. Don't be an idiot fighting on small bridge area or any small corridors transitioning between areas.
I find Arkveld is harder fight. Mostly every time he does spinning chain move attacks in enraged form.

Capcom really gave us Prowler in GU, just to never implement it again...
We aren't worthy of the Felyne Fury.

His fucking Frontier ass chains have some wonky hitboxes and the very last one on each wing seems to have a pretty tricky delay to it, because that's the chain that always catches me.

Comparing the base games? Yes. I like World a lot more. With the DLC World and Rise are pretty much even for me.

Wilds has some neat ideas, but they havent done enough with them yet or even ask enough questions to make you think about some of the shit. Like "hey I wonder what the implications of having a prehistoric super predator that's a biological hard-counter to every other Apex in the area are" or even "hey how exactly did Arkveld evolve from an artificial construct back into a natural creature and how many are there if its reproducing/does it reproduce asexually?". Shits whack.

Man tri was my first game, and lady was my favorite fight. I wasn't able to play online so I would set up traps and fight it in the water, like I was actually hunting it. It truly saddens me that the hunting aspect has become so minimized. The new maps would make actually tracking monsters way too difficult but people would find a way, I just want to actually feel like I'm hunting down apex predators instead of riding a taxi to a boss fight.

I think I may be an insane person, as I have played through the story 3 times now on my 3 different save files. I use different weapons on the different saves to justify their existence. I played World over a span of 6 years, so I am anticipating constant small additions to Wilds for the same span of time.

I hope they answer this in the DLC! Maybe the final boss rematch we are getting will expound.
Helpful Tips
Thanks for the tips, I did notice the absolute hell of trying to fight him in the corridors. Also, the mega knockdown into breath blast move was wiping everyone constantly. Is a lance player able to shield others from things with their block? That would be awesome.

I actually love that Nata is a naive kid who thinks we can coexist with ferocious apex predators. This mindset exists in today's world and I like the game pointing out that; no, just because grizzly bears are cute, you cannot coexist with them. He does have an arc of understanding why hunters exist, and why putting down invasive species is necessary. Alma giving us the guild's authorization to hunt something was a great recurring bit, and the final boss' version of it was a very cool moment. I like how the hunter is seasoned, and going by the default male voice, they are very reserved.

Also, the Monster Hunter language is technically in the game. When you are walking around camp, people say passive voicelines in the MH language. Gemma will greet you with a "Seybar!" which means God knows what. The Felyne language is integrated in a similar way. If you chose to have your Palico speak Human, they will switch to Felyne to speak to the other palicos, like with the Support Team in the Quematrice fight. This means, lorewise, either your palico learned Human, or your Hunter learned Felyne.

What is your favorite Fashion Hunter set right now? My main is HR 76 and rocking the Death Stench set with a Bone [Beta] helmet. Looks rad.

We're all insane here, you're in good company

Also I think that the negative feedback on the game's performance and the indisputable fact that the game isn't actually finished yet are valid, but I also remember base Rise and the shabby state it released in; that game really, well and truly turned itself around in Sunbreak and now its one of my favorite games in the series whereas base Rise was at the bottom before, so I'm willing to give the MonHun team some leeway on the disappointing release state of Wilds until they prove they aren't going to properly fix their shit.

And here is silly me thinking that wilds was about appreciating and respecting the forces of nature.
