GU Lagi and especially hyper Lagi is just an upgraded and more obnoxious Khezu
Having just fought hyper Lagi yesterday, FUCK ME was he way more awful than I remember. I feel bad for anyone having GU Lagi as their first Lagi experience (probably a lot).
I do remember people back in Tri online willing to wait for 10+ mins until Lagi moved from zone 11 all the way to zone 9 or 5 before they even started fighting him and getting mad and bitching at you if you went for it, even crying in the chat.
Having God knows how many hours in Tri, I never encountered anyone even closely like that, my condolences if you had that happen.
Do you guys actually prefer the World and Rise story over Wilds?
Yesn't. Yes because Worldborne's story (I don't recall much of Rise's story so I can't comment) wasn't shoved down your throat
nearly as much and doesn't waste
as much of your time with it. I also found Worldborne's story slightly interesting once you remove any notion of the Handler's voice from it (I.E. read about it in your of time). I'd imagine Rise has more interesting characters but honestly it's hard for me to give a fuck regardless unless they're noticeably interesting.
That's where the no comes in, MH is not known and should not be known for its well thought out story or compelling characters (even as of Wilds, as talented writers are a dying breed), these should be a mildly interesting but largely ignorable set piece like pretty much any other mainline MH game.
>"Hunter! This Monster is causing us grief, go hunt it and wear it's skin to save our village!"
>"Yes Chief. Glory to Moga Village."
A MH game's story should be a 5 minute read when put together. It should have minimal cutscenes, it should not have character trying and failing to voice act in your face, it should not have forced walk-alongs and on-rails sections (the only rails a MH game should have is on Gogmazios's arena), it should not have "this monster is a living being just like we are" because I'm going to take said life and use it to beat another monster's life with it. It does not need some whiney streetshitting child telling me if I'm allowed to hunt this monster nor a handler that doesn't sit on her ass back at camp or HQ,
be pretty, and shut the fuck up until I need her.

Simply put, MH should only focus on the
gameplay of the
game. I prefer World's less forced story (again, don't care about Rise so no comment) over Wilds, but I'd actually prefer neither's"story."
