He was on a winning streak with MLP up until The Death of Twilight Sparkle (which I think was better than WWIII if I’m being honest). After that the SU-esque humor slowly started going away and started turning into the gay melodrama we know it as now.
I mean anything is better than WWIII. If Tamers has any weakness, it seems to be drawn-out plot threads that end with anime stuff. He seems much better at episodic moments, character building and humor.
You're seriously going to tell me the white guy warning the black guy that Light was writing his name in the deathnote and then Tamers showing him writing NIGGER didn't make you laugh your ass off?
I didn't say it was absolute shit, I just thought it was bad overall. Even this most recent pony video (that was dangerously close to being 100% shit) still had decent jokes. The problem was those were about thirty seconds out of forty minutes.
That's a night and day difference, WW3 had slow parts but the pony shit blew a half hearted load right at the start and got progressively worse from there.
I didn’t hate WW3, I just remember being underwhelmed by it. And it’s the unfortunate product of Tamers having writer’s/artist’s block (at least that’s my guess, considering the first trailer came out in 2020).
That was the biggest issue I had with it too. Upon rewatch I enjoyed it much more, but after waiting years for it to finally come out, theorizing about it and whatnot, I couldn't help but be disappointed initially. With BWTB being as long as it was, and releasing like a month after the first trailer, I tricked myself into believing the extremely long wait meant WW3 would be some several hours long masterpiece when it didn't even meet BWTB runtime. You can really tell he was struggling because the new boys really didn't make much sense and didn't have time to be built up enough before announcing a movie. Like why was the Heart Guy from the valentine's episode even a member? At some point it was revealed he was Drake Bell but he still was never really given a reason to hate the SU, and his scene from the trailer was entirely cut when he gets killed in a different episode. He just announced it way too early and didn't know how to get there. Ultimately I think its a fine video on rewatch, and some people I know that got into SU late liked it more than BWTB, but for me and many others it will always be tainted by the overhyping.

If you’re a beginner, I recommend stuff like the Chinese restaurant and Dollar Tree ones first, as they’re some of the most mundane plots imaginable and don’t delve into any huge lore.
Maybe I'm coping but hopefully that means he's finally wrapped the ponyslop up and we can return to our regularly scheduled peak
