Gonna name my son Adolf now.Baby names, especially -aydon craze.
The "pink tax" is a pillar of western culture that holds everything up, it must remain!I don't know if this itself counts as a trend per se but it baffled me then and now, Bic for her

I believe they costed more than a regular Bic pen too.
Another good example is Brienne from asoiaf/got. She's a strong woman who fights, but she's also freakish in appearance (which is what a female character would have to be in order to be that strong), and carries a whole bunch of emotional baggage that is explored throughout her character arc - how she's dealt with a lifetime of abuse and cruelty from both men and women due to her appearance, and how she repays rare kindness with fierce loyalty because of that. Her strength is part of her character. She's not puddle-deep, pornified strength.I dislike this as well. You look at where it’s done well, because it can be done well, in a film like ‘alien.’ Ripley is strong, but she doesn’t physically beat the alien up, she has to use her brain. She doesn’t swan in and girl boss the mostly male crew, she asks where she can be useful loading missiles in the mech suit and is accepted as a useful member of the crew without antagonising people - she’s a competent, useful crew member and is accepted as such.
The Valkyrie thing only works with the sort of fantasy setting like superhero movies (which are also dross.) it’s just LAZY writing.
This is why I've pretty much entirely dropped out of much of modern media. Fiction without characters is BORING.People can’t write character any more, they write a person who is there to put their ideology across. nobody is writing characters and telling stories in media any more, it’s just self inserts, bitchy one liners, and ideology. It’s crap.
This same shit with Razorblades and Body Wash. Men get a 3 in one for 5 bucks at the most and then we have to pay 8 dollars for simple decent shampoo if we want to maintain a good regimen.I don't know if this itself counts as a trend per se but it baffled me then and now, Bic for her

It's fake all of the time. All of it is a performance for whoever is paying attention to them and buying stuff from their affiliate links. It's basically a type of thot since a lot of them are very made up and wear clothing more revealing than a "real" "trad" woman would.Trad wife feels fake to me most of the time.
i am obscenely upset that i cannot just know the number i should wear and move on with my life. OCD person with a diagnosis, i hate the random ass sizing. sometime im a 16 sometimes in a 22, either way im feeling fat and lame that i cant just pick a few things off a rack and get on with my life. That actually makes sense as standard sizing was originally based on gendered body size averages. Rather you ought to be upset at how inconsistent sizing is in womenswear.
oh? you dont love the nu wurld ordur of the girls and the gays TM?Quoting these two together because they go with something I want to talk about much I hate the trend of literally correlating fags and trannies with women
with literally everything.
They always need to be a strong, capable warriors and never get to have any traditionally feminine traits like in traditional fairy tales.
I hate literal 'strong women' - women in media who look like a Victoria's Secret model and swing a sword bigger than them while going go toe to toe with a man who's taller and more ripped than them, or fight as a soldier in a modern war. It's just so incredibly dumb on every level. It ignores the very real danger that women face in any conflict because 1. they are weaker by every metric on average and 2. rape. As far as I can see it's catered entirely to retarded manchildren with some weird mommy-dommy fetish. These characters also fill in the 'strong woman' niche, and I find actual strong women to be interesting characters. Historically, they've been soft power behemoths who used deft social navigation, family relations, espionage, and other means to leverage themselves into positions of power over men. Most of them didn't even sit on the throne, they just pulled the strings from behind the curtain. Think Sorghaghtani Beki, Julia Maesa, many Chinese Dowager Empresses, or the Valide Sultans. And most of them were older at the height of their power, so not one-dimensional sex kittens with a halberd or AK in a steel floss bikini.
The "Office Siren" trend had a mini-saga/dramaLooksmaxxing terms like "siren, bunny, deer". Where do they come up with this shit honestly.
Similarly, all that "not like the other girls" shit where they pretend it's not "not like the other girls" but it still is. Even in historic fantasy you get shit like "Oh she's going against the cultural norms of her time!" but in doing so they promote modern behaviors and values over the things that were useful, valuable, beautiful, and important from other time periods.Other than that, I’m also tired of how it feels like basically every other female character has to be a girlboss who scoffs at the thought of wearing a dress.
But I really hate "the pink job and blue job" trend.
I had to look this up.Blue job/pink job is beyond retarded.
when I learned the "very demure, very mindful" meme was started by a tranny I went ohhhhh
The ‘girl dinner’ stuff I think is a symptom of us having gone insane over gender roles. When I was a kid they used to advertise Lego as just Lego. There was an advert with a girl with pigtails wearing brightly coloured corduroy and a sweater that would have done a boy as well and she’s holding a build and the caption is something like ‘it’s a housecastleship’ . The idea being that it’s just a toy for kids and it can be anything you want it to be. She is clearly a girl. She plays with Lego. Great!
There's a gag in Venture Brothers when Dr. Girlfriend hotwires a car and makes Hank drive because she "doesn't drive men".One thing that I've been seeing on dating apps recently is an increasing amount of "I'm a passenger princess" and that shit makes me nervous. Because I live on a city where you need to be able to drive, and I never know if Passenger Princess means "I can drive but I'd rather you did" or "I literally cannot drive you must take me everywhere". I can deal with the former, but the latter is a no go. And I can't help but feel like this is directly linked to this infantilization of women trend.
There's a video online I watched a while ago, wish I could remember the creator -maybe the critical drinker?
Someone once told me that "Karen" is one of the best psyops (accidental or not) because it silences the group that has historically been the most likely to care about things like quality, service, and standards. People love to tout out the whole "Women do most of the spending!" stat, but of course they do. Moms are the ones doing the grocery shopping for the family, buying supplies for the home, clothing for the husband and children. It's not "bitches be shopping". It's essentially the purchasing wing of a business, just on a small scale.Personally, my big fuck-off of the last decade is "Karens". Nothing has shown me more effectively how much misogyny in men from both the left and the right was just bubbling around waiting to explode than the sheer vindictiveness unleashed on "Karens" (this is okay because they are white women being racist, through complaining about bad service, or something, somehow) and TERFs (this is okay because they are targeting an oppressed minority!). Lives and careers have been ruined in the name of social justice, and you can't tell me it wasn't just because men, and some women, LOVE seeing uppity women being punished.
The normalization of women being low class, immoral, garish and whorish.
I too am fed up with razors, I recommend getting a safety razor and buying a bulk pack of razor blades for cheap. Merkur is the brand I use.(42C) You can get short or long handle ones for not too much, especially combined with how long buying a bulk pack of razor blades will last you. I'd also recommend getting a closed comb vs open. This same shit with Razorblades and Body Wash. Men get a 3 in one for 5 bucks at the most and then we have to pay 8 dollars for simple decent shampoo if we want to maintain a good regimen.
Correct me if I'm wrong (I don't use any social media so it's not like I have a timeline), but didn't "boydinner" originate first as a humorous term about the horrific "food" a man would make when unwilling to commit the time to making a proper meal?"girl dinner"
Unironically come to the shaving thread. Because ladies need cheap, high quality shaves too.I too am fed up with razors, I recommend getting a safety razor and buying a bulk pack of razor blades for cheap. Safety razors have saved me money and me skin.
I also have now realized I'm in The Salonbut I believe this would be helpful for the fairer sex. Apologies I'm not even really sure if lads are welcome round here.
I've posted in there before about safety razors and while I agree, I'm not a lady, just a little lost. Thought this was Q&A being frank took me reading a bit and scrolling to see it's not. Think the Lent purple confused me combined with clicking through New SpergingUnironically come to the shaving thread. Because ladies need cheap, high quality shaves too.
I'm probably doubleposting, forgive me (I have a bad habit of posting before reading the thread lol) but what I hate is when a movie or TV show has a female character who's a tomboy, or physically strong, or some other traditionally masculine trait, and people shit themselves online praising it because "omg this woman is doing man things but she's still pretty!!" Since fucking when has there EVER been a masculine female character who wasn't pretty?? Best example I can think of is Luisa from Encanto:There's a video online I watched a while ago, wish I could remember the creator -maybe the critical drinker? He points out how hollow the whole girlboss Hollywood trend is, pretending women are a physical match for men (personally I blame tranny culture for this, as we are all supposed to pretend there is no difference therefore trannies can compete with women cos muh gender feelz). The example he uses is Sarah Connor, who is a boss but uses her smarts to work her way through the world, escaping the mental hospital by holding a nurse hostage with a hypodermic needle in a much more realistic way than just beating up all the men. Smarts, skill, ingenuity, something that is realistic and the qualities are still admirable.
I hate how we can accept men "in media" who swing from building to building 150 feet in the air on web they shoot out of their wrist, and men who stop airplanes from crashing with their biceps, but if women "in media" hold a sword or fight in a war or *gasp* are stronger than a man(!!!) we feel the need to bitch about how it's unrealistic.
"Yes and"-ing you, not disagreeing, but I'm also sick of "strong woman" as strong women. I think because a lot of writers don't know what strength looks like besides what men can do, they just pull the "women can do anything a man can do!" or make characters like Black Widow who are just so good at flipping around and shit that they can take down teams of men and break the laws of physics. If Black Widow had her canonical training and also some kind of superpower that allowed her to control her weight or density, or something like that, it could be more fun and feel less pander-y.I'm probably doubleposting, forgive me (I have a bad habit of posting before reading the thread lol) but what I hate is when a movie or TV show has a female character who's a tomboy, or physically strong, or some other traditionally masculine trait, and people shit themselves online praising it because "omg this woman is doing man things but she's still pretty!!" Hey there's... Uh... I guess it depends on what you mean by butch. I looked up some lists and they seem to be stretching what a butch is.There is NO butch female character in fucking ANYTHING ANYWHERE, I don't know what this expectation is that a masculine female character is gonna be ugly is based on, but it's not based in reality I can tell you that much.
