Dead by Daylight and other Asymmetric Slasher Games - Discuss the games and the autistic/entitled communities around them

r07 refuses to finish ciconia because his plot had a covid-type event that became real before he got to publish it so now he has to rewrite the entire thing.

I think having his editor die around EP7 of umineko fucked him up real bad, if umi eps 7 and 8 arent evidence enough.
Oh. Welp, I take back my REEEing then.

And I'll take your word for it as I cannot for the life of me remember more than bits and pieces of 7 and 8.

Late to the party but Chaos Modifier and Double BP til the end of the month

Tried Chaos Shuffle and it's fun. It's such a drastic difference when survivors don't rely on crutch perks every single game.

No Windows of Opportunity, Dead Hard, Off The Record, Sprint Burst, Dramaturgy + Finesse, a million gen speed perks etc. Most of the game seems way less bullshit.

I noticed A LOT of people seem to be running into walls, obvious corners of the maps or obviously shit tiles. I guess this is what happens when their wallhacks are off? No more tourist tours of pallet into window into pallet and so on. Lots of people cry about "unhealthy" killer perks boosting you above your MMR but Windows of Opportunity gets the pass.

No shit.

On IdV there's no Windows of Oppurnity perk, if you get chased you better hope you're the first one.

Knowing where the remaining pallets are is busted, the windows themselves are 'fine'.

Lilith Omen (blight streamer and not a tranny) has been falsely perma-banned for exploiting. This lasted for around an hour before it was reversed.

He addressed it at the start of the video:
I do wonder how many false bans have happened to non-streamers and were just completely ignored by BHVR.

At 0:50 he gives an example of how legit players got branded as cheaters, then got falsely banned. Support then refused to help at all. They did look suspicious in the clips, but it was most likely just lag. And I doubt support has the game sense to decide what's legit and what's not.
It's a good video showcasing this problem of having a non-reversible ban system decided by weak, subjective proof. Playing too well or experienced a bug? Well, you better hope it wasn't recorded and sent to BHVR support.

No you haven't. If you had been you would have known for sure it was the correct term.
I mean back years and years ago I've seen the term used (like on GameFAQs and 4CHAN), but I wasn't sure if it was still the term being used in current year or if it even means what I think it means (reading stuff, and hanging around on the site, but not actually having an account.) and I hadn't really seen it used in the few threads here that I was actively following. When the uhhh "stuff" happened with Chris, and his Mother there were a ton of new people registering for the site, but I don't recall seeing the term being used then either, it was mostly "Tourists", from people suddenly finding out about it, and then finding Kiwi Farms at the same time.

Anyways to keep my Post on topic, I wanted to mention what Anime/Manga I thought might likely get Chapters in DBD now that they actually went and used Tokyo Ghoul, showing that they are actually open to doing more than Skins. I mentioned Parasyte before, but there are some more modern series that are popular enough that I feel they could have a chance.
Before this I would have assumed something like Jujutsu Kaisen would get a Chapter first, like with Itadori as a Survivor, and Sukuna as Killer.
Maybe Demon Slayer with Muzan as a Killer, and Tanjiro as a Survivor, and some of the other protagonists as skins?
One of my favorite FAVORITE series is Chainsaw man. If they did a Chapter for that I would personally like Denji as a Killer, but unless they go completely alternate universe to make it happen, I think he'd be a Survivor, as he's too "good". So likely Makima would be the Killer.

Recently Ayrun (the smurfing survivor youtuber) has came up with a hot take about Blight:
1742939784380.png
As you can guess people are already parroting it like gospel on every DBD community page. Will BHVR bend the knee? We will see.

Also is this one of you trolling these retards at BHVR forums?

"Killer shouldn't see the aura of generators" LMAO

Would making Blight a 110% killer even make a difference for Blight mains?
That's the thing, no. It will just punish casual players and make Blight frustrating to play on certain tiles or maps where his ability has limited power. Charge speed is also tied to movement speed, so if it was lowered both would be slower. But I don't think they even thought about it that deeply.

Ayrun's justification:

Funny how the guy who openly smurfs is talking about skill. Honestly all of it just seems to me like Blight is just a scapegoat for survivor frustrations.

I also hate this double standard of "let's buff solos to match SWF, but let's also nerf the best killers to match the lower tiers"

Got a new killer with mobility and was having fun in chaos shuffle. There's no constant bullshit I have to face. No perfect loopers, no map offerings, no comp wannabes, shift+w is not a problem either as I can keep up easily. I avoid getting 4k's to not skyrocket my MMR on said killer. I put up constant BP for everyone in the match, let the people go to get 1-2k max if any at all and don't really take it seriously at all.

Then I see a daily mission for Nemesis (played him quite a bit before and got P15, just got a bit rusty). Why not try him again for some variety? Instantly got an Autohaven offering SWF. I spot someone and he's already on his flight to Argentina. So I find another person nearby. I infect him with Licker's Tongue to get lvl 2 for the pallets. He runs through 1/4 of the map as the guy with flashlight is clicking at me, following me waiting to deny me the hook while the guy goes down in the open. 2 gens are done. I switch target to a guy at 75% gen near me, injure him and he sprints to main building. Another gen is done while this one is ready to pop. So I just quit as I got 0 hooks at pretty much 4 gens done. I really couldn't be bothered to do this EGC bullshit. Either they successfully get 4 out or make a mistake and simply trade hooks only to repeat it till they succeed. Then they will just sit at a gate till last second to rub it in. Wasted an anniversary cake on this faggot SWF, too.

Next match as an M1 killer for the daily, this time with Sacrificial Ward. 3-man SWF into Lery's (RNG). They're constantly relaying my position making it impossible to keep up with them, the moment I go into their general area they've pre-ran for 10 seconds already. My ability is useless, undetectable does nothing either. After every unhook there's an actual body-block train behind the guy making it impossible to tunnel. I did get few hooks but ultimately zero kills. It was some TTV SWF, all on discord voice chat (I did check his stream to confirm). They were laughing and spamming loud notifications at the gate while I was alt-tabbed.

I am not some meta slave, I am not a pro killer and all of this was in Chaos Shuffle which I expected to be more casual. This kind of stuff just wants to make me to uninstall. It's just so frustrating to experience this then have every faggot in the community trying to gaslight me how I'm just bad and how SWFs aren't really common, killers just think they go against SWFs to excuse their lack of skill or how SWFs aren't actually OP because of this statistic from BHVR (same source that says Nurse has lowest killrate). Also solos have it sooooooooo much worse and you should just stop complaining. Every DBD discussion is also always "how can we buff solos???" wanting every match to be like I've just described without compensation for the killer.

I do feel like QoL Phase 2 might be a final straw for many killer players, that is if the new surrender system won't be. I've already been playing mainly survivor for some time. It's just so mentally exhausting to play killer nowadays. And with how they're trying to take away the only viable characters and strategies while avoiding the elephant in the room (SWF) it's only going to get worse. There's actually no point in playing a no-mobility or an M1 killer other than liking the licenses they're from. I want to play Ghostface, but can't without expecting to get stomped half the time. Why can SWF just completely neuter a killer's power and no one cares? While Knockout gets removed because "muh solos!". Why not just remove Undetectable status altogether as it seems only effective against said solos? None of the balancing decisions make sense. None of the community can agree on anything at all either.

If I have to tank my MMR to not get into constant sweaty, unbalanced matches, then I would rather not play killer at all. I hope BHVR goes bankrupt and gets bought out so an actual competent dev can take over.

Oh hey, I passed my 1 year anniversary of quitting the game for good (even then I only played SWF with a friend of mine and we both sucked ass but had some fun here and there still), and I keep checking here to see that my decision was the correct one.

Yep, the game still has no real competition and when things go great as killer, there is no other game that captures the feeling of superiority you get when overcoming 4 other players at once, but like Raw Onion Enjoyer laid out, once you run out of newbies and super casuals to beat, the illusion is stripped away from you. The game is rigged from the start, you are not supposed to kill all 4 survivors without relying on meta shit or underhanded tactics. And even then a great SWF will have figured out six different ways to counter everything you do already and t-bag you at the exit gates anyways, no matter how hard you try. Why even bother at that point?

In fact, the older my friends and I get, the more we realize that strictly PVP online games have had alll their fun sucked out of them by overly competitive players, the constant need for validation from retards and streamers who go out of their way to humiliate their opponents instead of just finishing the game, and biased or incompetent devs to really seal the deal. Shit, I cannot even relax with meme decks or sub-optimal decks in Hearthstone, the game everyone called the most casual card game back in the day. I am fucking bronze, the lowest rank you can be and I keep facing meta decks people just copied online that all play themselves. Each game is practically over at turn 4-5 cause I am just bullshitting around while they set up their combos and engines and what have you.

I highly advise everyone still torturing themselves with this game to find a new one. How about a co-op shooter or a PVP game where odds aren't constantly stacked in your enemy's favor?

If you play killer on the more casual side, the game is unplayable. You have to become a meta slave pro bono sweat like me to have any chance against people who aren't complete lobotomites on survivor.
Yeah it's just such a drastic difference between my favorite killers and the new one on which I let people escape that I realized how fun the game can be when it's not rigged against you.

I have played survivor for like a month now, once in a while I will escape but I intentionally play super risky and sacrifice myself for others to not escape through gate too much. After a month I am still playing against a high variety of killers regardless of tier, some of them seem like new players, some do what I do and max out hooks then let people go intentionally to not rank up.

I mentioned it before how the winning condition to gain MMR as survivor ensures that only semi-competent SWFs climb the ladder. Resulting in killers who get 3k's to eventually start facing only said SWFs. All while even good solos are intentionally kept at the bottom under a shell. If it was about skill, then I could understand. But it is not, it's intentionally putting you against the odds. But I guess Lilith Omen who no-lifes Blight with meta builds has a win streak so the game is in an ok state, or killer sided if anything.

It doesn't help that every game now includes some form of insidious matchmaking system like SBMM or EOMM which turn every match into a tournament or outright rig it against you. I remember when DBD used to have no MMR, it wasn't as balanced but it was much more fun and chaotic. The big reason I oppose Tokyo Ghoul being added (apart from it being out of place faggot shit) is that it will attract even more insane tryhards. Those edgy anime avatars who no-life Valorant or some other competitive game.

Nowadays I just meme around as survivor and don't even expect to win, or play a bit on my deranked killer for a match or two. DBD became more of a background game I boot up to not play the same thing over and over.

So to vent a little, and speaking on what others have said. I do like DBD, and I've been playing since around Leatherface was released in it. However at the same time for me the game can also be incredibly stressful, and aggravating (so basically I love it, and hate it at the same time). I'm not going to speak on balance or whatnot as I'm a pretty casual player, playing on, and off whenever I feel the urge so I don't feel "qualified" to talk about that, if the characters are buffed or nerfed I usually woudn't even really notice at my level unless it's a really major change, but I will say that as a Killer main (I specifically bought the game because I could play as a variety of different Killers.) it is usually much MUCH more stressful playing as Killer. I feel like playing as Survivor since I'm on a Team, and am always expecting to be killed unless I get very lucky it feels a bit more relaxed. However when playing as a Killer EVERYTHING IS ON ME, and it can be very stressful to play, so I try to play expecting to lose (like with Survivor.), but it can be so frustrating, like I have to take things REALLY RELAXED to enjoy it. But it's so easy to get in a Chase, and even though the other person is much more skilled then me, I get to where I don't want to "lose" to them in the Chase so I keep going, and going, and going even though it's near impossible. And then a lot of times if the Chase isn't that hard, then their Friends will immediately come, and break the Hook I'm taking them too or Flashlighting me or whatever, which I understand is what the Survivors are meant to do to help each other, but it's just the kind of thing that can be very enraging.
I don't have the time or patience to play massive amounts to "get good", and seeing what other Killer players say about the game when they get to an actually high skill level, I feel like it wouldn't make much difference if I did. So more, and more when playing as Killer, I try to keep myself relaxed, I usually play "friendly", and only Hook each person once or twice (many times if I'm up against SWF or more skilled Survivors, that's all I can manage anyways.), maybe I'll take a Kill or two if I can get them, but when the Generators are done I immedietely open the Gates, and try to get the Survivors out quickly, if it was a difficult match, and the Survivors give me a hard time then maybe I'll just chase them a bit without expecting to actually catch them or just goof around till their ready to be done.
I used to leave a Lobby, and look for another match if I saw more than one Flashlight before starting, now I just keep a set of Perks with Lightborn ready for every Killer, and use it if I see a single Flashlight. I also always use Bloodhound to more easily track Survivors that I've hit.

I guess basically when I first started playing the game and saw that it was only Ranked PVP, but that the Survivors could be in a group together all using Discord (or whatever is mostly used for Teamspeak nowadays I assume it's Discord though.) for what feels to me like an unfair advantage is when I gave up on ever taking the game seriously as a Killer. So my goal since then has been to find ways to enjoy the game playing very casually as Killer, and trying to never let the Survivors get me agitated or too much "into it" because it always inevitably just makes me super stressed while playing. I think the time that stood out to me the most from recent memory is when I was playing against some SWF on the Macmillan Estate Map with the Tower on it, I started Chasing this one guy, and he always took the same route up through the Tower, and it felt like I could almost reach him, but always just miss him, and we kept going through it over and over, normally I would have just given up, and ignored him for the rest of the Match. But I got "into it", not wanting to "lose" and was like "If I can just get this one guy, and Hook him one time then I don't care what else happens, and I'll be satisfied with that." Of course I never caught him, and all the Generators were finished so I opened the Gates, went into the Basement, and stood pathetically in the Corner until the Survivors left, hanging my head in utter shame, and humiliation.
Since then if I get a Chase like that I just remind myself what happened before, then I break off the Chase as it's not worth the stress. And if things look like they really won't go my way at all then I just start goofing around, and casually fake chasing the Survivors until the Gates are ready.

It may sound like insanity to keep playing the game at that point, but I like the characters, and the story, and basic gameplay (particularly for the Killers.) so if I can just keep myself from taking it too seriously while playing then I do have fun, but I don't think I've ever played a game like this where I had to put in so much work to not take it seriously while playing.

EDIT: Forgot to mention this, but another reason for me mainly playing Killer is the Bloodpoints, even if I goof around then usually I still get a good amount, but as Survivor it feels much harder to get BP, and as I want to focus on Leveling characters, there's not as much incentive to play as Survivor imo.

They need to stop catering to only the survivor side of casual players. The game should be a lot more casual in general. As well, they keep trying to "balance" this mess, but it will never work because they don't want to make the game truly competitive or casual. The game is in this weird limbo of no direction, and it's been like that for years. They do nothing to help casual killer players and the bare minimum, to help casual survivor players, it's to the point where I'm confused why casuals play at all.
