A little story about this from the annals of history. The source of the Jew mistrust in Central Europe that manifested in the 20th century largely originated in the German Unification wars of the 19th century.

Its mostly the politicians who are seething and sneeding. They get kickbacks from junk food and soda companies for allowing SNAP to buy their shit. These companies also fund scientific studies saying "no stalker child, chips and pop don't make people fat. its a lack of exercise."

That might be partially true. But eating bad chemicals also harms your body. A lie by omission is still a lie.

There's probably a crossover with big pharma as well. They get to make drugs to solve obesity and hook people on diabetes drugs as well.

I believe the 3% you're thinking of is 3% CPI. This is a different metric (PCE), which in "normal" times, should be at 2%.

Every time I suggest letting pre-teens and teenagers legally work more, or that doing to will help them develop a sense of responsibility and ethics, people look at me like I have two heads. A common response is accusing me of wanting to send little kids to die in mines and pre-OSHA factories to prevent them from going to school and escaping poverty.

I was illegally forced to work from 7-18. It was extremely demoralizing and it ruined any resemblance of a childhood I could have had. Yes, I did get a minuscule income, but often times that was how I ate dinner. The job I was forced to have wasn’t unlike a job they might give minors today, and I am adamantly against the idea of underaged labor.
