I mean, it does take place in Louisiana, around the time Woodrow got elected. I think it was charming for what it was, but sadly the only time it's brought up is to be a political soapbox. Also Naveen and his country is based off of Italy, so he's more Mediterranean more than anything

It's in the costumes. Naveen wears shalwar kameez and his mother (who appears in the book about Tiana's wedding) wears a sari: they're Indian. Tiana gets to marry a prince from a country that will lose all of its monarchies under the new constitution during her own lifetime, yay! :'D Tiana's a great character. She deserved a better movie.

It's not. They include trans men because their are biological female and are often still part of lesbian communities despite taking steroids. Tbf the realtors she tries to buy the property from were definitely going to deny her the ability to purchase because she was black. Hell the only reason she gets the land at the end of the movie is cuz she extorts persuades them w/ the help of her alligator friend.
