He is imprisoned.
Yeah... I know. I was saying no one else should be imprisoned for what the past three Fire Lords did.

From my understanding, it was a paid job that gave them money to continue their operations. They had shit to do but they also need money and to improve their reputation with a high profile job.
I just want to bitch about how shit the comics are, I don't care about their dumb explanations.

At least the comics had good art, but the writer is most definitely a hack. I don't buy Zuko imprisoning all the nobles and politicians being forced to live in newly colonized areas, for the most part, they don't choose to go, they are commanded to by the ruler. Ozai is the only one who should be imprisoned.
That's absolutely retarded and goes against the show episodes that showed that Fire Nation children were just normal. It doesn't even make sense considering that historically, living in the colonies was very privileged since you basically were a high caste over 99% of who lived there. It's not fucking Australia.

I did not say they deserved it either.

That is fine but some things have decent explanations. We cannot pretend that even bad works do not have some merit. A ton of stuff from the comics do not work, why go after the ones that do?

Not even Australia was Australia. The crimes the ones that were sent there had committed were petty thefts mostly. They were sent there due to overpopulation.

Yeah, you not only completely missed my point, you tried to correct me on something I already knew because you don't know you can use "should" in different contexts. I'm not going to explain because if you read it correctly, the point is obvious.

Sometimes I see screenshots of Korea sad in a wheelchair and it makes me laugh
Lmao the auto correct. And same, buddy, same.

Fair but I will point out that both interpretations of the text were valid in a written format. It is hard to tell apart without verbal emphasis when reading. The English Language is like that.

There was that one comic released in 2023 where Azula went into the Fire Temple to confront her past but I don't care about that because it's a comic. What I'm wondering is if Azula post breakdown in ATLA could be rehabilitated once Zuko become Fire Lord. Would she still have to be locked away like Ozai or maybe sent to some sanitorium? What do you think?

This isn't an excuse just because I wanted to post this picture.

Canonically, we don't really see Azula struggle much with her identity besides in the beach episode a little bit and obviously her sudden breakdown. Psychologically, it seems that Mai and Ty Lee turning on her were a final nail in the coffin as to her own delusions of her self-image which were further shaken by her out of nowhere promotion to fire lord and the stress that accompanied it. Before Mai and Ty Lee betrayed her, she was able to rationalize her own family issues and lack of close relationships through the guise of them being traitors to the fire nation and defying the strict and cruel honor codes associated with it. But when the two people that she thought were her true friends turned on her, she could no longer ignore the reality that no one likes/respects her and she only rules through family ties and fear.

With all that in mind, Azula is aware enough to somewhat acknowledge her insane personality and upbringing under Ozai, and given the circumstances of her breakdown (becoming fire lord, eclipse, trying to kill her own brother once and for all), I can see her at being redeemed in some form without it being hacky. Then again, I haven't read the comic at all so I'm going solely off the show.

Well, originally the cartoon's movie (you know, the epilogue of the series) was centered about a possible Azula's redemption (just like Zuko in S2).
But the exects of Nickelodeon forced the entire team to make a new Avatar.
Korra was originally idealized as mini-series. If you saw S1, the first 11 episodes are clustered and rushed as fuck. The phase finally slows after episode 12 onwards.

I think the writers had a idea about how fix "Azula" since that was the missing straw in the entire series.
Anyways, i'm glad the trio doesn't appear in TLOK. Bryke butchered Zuko, Sokka & Toph in one slice.

Bryke wanted to make the Search into a movie but the execs wanted a live action movie. A sequel series was what Nick offered.
How the fuck do you make the Search into a film? There is no action, it's just talking with a conclusion that is both anticlimactic, pointless, insulting and goes against the moral of the original series.

As for Azula, nothing really works with her. Making her be redeemed is just discount Zuko plot. Making her irredimable is very dark for the show. Her character has the issue of being a 14 year old who behaves like she's 24. You might as well do the anime classic of mind breaking her and having her personality reset (which would be an interesting use of energy bending).

I'm pretty sure the mother was never confirmed.
Mai is definitely Izumi's mother. They look exactly alike. On top of that, the comic guys have all said that Mai and Zuko will more than likely get back together at some point. Every comic featuring Mai always focuses on her dealing with her still lingering feelings for Zuko.

It was dumb to break the two of them up for sure, but at least they definitely will get back together at some point.

I don't see what is wrong with making her irredeemable. She comes across as nothing but sadistic and a psychopath throughout the series. People only feel sympathy for her because unlike the rest of the evil characters in the series, she is a child.

That's pretty much it. We generally see children as not responsible for their actions until the age of 18 (at the earliest). Not to mention that a good deal of her issues are due to parental neglect/favourism.

Having a story of "child with issues stemming from emotional abuse is destined to remain evil" is pretty harsh for a tv show. The comic make it worse because "Mommy had a reason to hate you because you were a result of rape, unlike your brother that was the result of love/cucking."

Maybe having the film end with the mother sacrificing herself to save Azula would have been a good ending to both plotlines.

Nah, Zuko was still very much Ozai's son. They confirmed that at the end of the comic. Ursa basically said, "lol I just lied about him being that other guy's son to see if you were reading my mail."

I would hope that Aaron Ehasz would have had a hand in helping write the script. The guy who was hired to write the comic obviously can't write and probably went off a loose plot synopsis.

Can we stop the Aaron Ehasz dicksucking already?

His claim to fame is the original ATLA series and, surprisingly, a few Futurama episodes he wrote back in the 2000's and besides that he hasn't written ANYTHING good in a fucking decade. The Dragon prince is all he is worked on and its a fucking dumpster fire of garbage writing.

He was the person who told Bryke no and suggested making Toph into a girl. I'm ignoring anything he did outside of the show because it's not relevant in this case. Bryke are like George Lucas need to be told no or to try alternate ideas and Aaron was that guy during the making of AtLA. Get over it.

He is probably more of a better filter than an actual creator. Give him something that has already been somewhat put together to mold and refine. The fact that Bryke has done such a terrible job with the franchise since Ehasz departed indicates he does deserve some praise.

I don't remember that, but it's so retarded it's just as likely to be true.
It is true. The plot in the comic was that Ursa was sending letters out to loved ones and old friends, unaware that Ozai was intercepting them. After catching wind of what he was doing, Ursa wrote a letter to her ex-boyfriend claiming that he was really the father of Zuko knowing it would set Ozai off upon reading it. It did just that, and it led to the two of them having a big fight where she basically admitted she wished Zuko wasn't his. The whole thing was supposed to highlight how miserable their relationship was, Ursa having a different bond with Zuko compared to Azula and Ozai deciding to treat Zuko like shit for that bond.
