Mega Rad Gun Thread

So I learned that because of brexit there is a P90 optic made in the UK that can be imported only because of brexit due to previous EU regulations. It is an updated version of the optic designed for the gun, with battery instead of tritium as an option. It gets the lowest bore axis possible on it with the factory rail. I've heard a lot of people like it, others find it restrictive FOV wise and also a pain to zero. It's a prismatic optic so even with astigmatism or related conditions it would be usable. I just find it funny that Brexit is why they can be shipped to the US.

Mail it to me.

Funny enough unrelated, had dinner with Poppa Basso. I mentioned I can't get over how many "old guns" I want now. Now I'm "old" I grew up in 90s... I was like lame uzi.. I didn't know guns then ... well whoops.. now I want an uzi..

Unrelated IMI looks like new uzi. I'll built a parts one.

Even before I got into guns and only liked the old things (esp because grandpa was OG snake with a m1) crazy I don't have a FN FAL/ g3.
The cool part about the Uzi pro is that if you bought a factory pistol brace model (which I did, of course) the brace uses the same hinge as the Micro folding stock, too.

And unlike the micro, you can just pop the stock off whenever you want to just do the Uzi pistol thing without it, for whatever reason. The hinge for the brace is dovetailed into the back of the receiver and held in place by a couple of easily punched out roll pins. If can't sorce a real micro stock, I can just remove the brace and replace it with a pic rail adapter and use that instead.

The Uzi Pro isn't all bad, except for the unknown reason they decided to go with a button release instead of the old Uzi release, making all the surplus mags incompatible without cutting the new mag catch into them.

I'm glad I picked one up when I did. I correctly judged that they would eventually stop being imported and go retarded, just like the real full size Uzi's made by IMI. I'm not spending over $1k for a Vector Uzi, fuck that.

Seems the CMP is making new production Garands or experimenting with them?

Genuinely curious how this even makes sense economically. There's no way these are going to sell for less than $2000 a piece.
What I'm 100 percent certain is the reaction to the secondary market say 5 years from now:

RARE! GRAIL GUN! L@@K!!!
BRAND NEW PRODUCKTION M1 GRAND MADE BY CMP WITH PAPERS AND CERTIFICATES
TACK DRIVER AND SHOOTS GREAT!
NEVER ONCE FIRED!
$5500 FIRM

I'd assume they're hoping to make new receivers for all their spare parts as a way to supplement the CMP orders with a "not necessarily historical Garand for the sake of having a Garand" option, but you're probably right and it's going to be exactly like the 1911 debacle where people buy to sell rattletraps with a 300% markup.

I had a visceral negative reaction to this post. It was TOO accurate.

I'll be called a faggot, a pinko, a commie. But I did get a CMP m1 and not too long ago a few years. I do not enjoy it.
The ergos and ,don't match. I'm sorry. I'm a history buff and was THRILLED to get one. I've shot em before and knew the issues. So having one was just to collect and impress boomers.

it's super they are making new ones because CMP can be kinda a PITA for some sales. This will be pricy but you can get one, and when CMP dries up... they will be GONE.

Also like wise man said... more gun > less gun for options. Fuck it while it's a sin I rather there be a 223 SKS and .380 acp BAR than NOT have those options.

While I've heard people going bigger and VERY hot on the aught six... If made well the newer metals are better... could you picture a nice brand new safe well made 338 Lapua Garand? Because BASED? Sure it'll be 7k but .. it's a fucking 338 gur-hand.

It was 80 in my area first day carried my 1903 :)

you can easily re-barrel a garand to 9.3x62 or .35 whelen which is quite potent on flesh. just need a new barrel. USGI bolt works with no mods and the clips do too.

it shouldn't be 7k for a new garand. full custom garand builds usually come out at 2,500-3,000 with the only original part being the receiver. even the very nice new build M14's from fulton armory or LRB only cost about 3k for USGI clone rifles with wood.

For a Garand to cost 7k it'd have to be some bespoke engraved blued with best grade wood rifle which the Garand is not and never has been.

and ,don't match
Having a non-matching gun is more historically accurate, people went through this when they got their 1911 orders through. Oh no, the slide is from the '80s and the receiver is from '51, woe is me, I've been bamboozled by the CMP!
Congrats, your gun was used and had to be patched up by armorers multiple times.

I agree, 100% I collect because history and I prefer parts guns reworked etc because I also like to shoot!

A rearmored 8 times Mosin no one cares about I can use it, a different gas system into a FN FAL it's still a mo fucking FAL it still kicks ass.. It's not something to hide in a safe. While I have a few firearms in near perfect shape. I want to get out there use stuff share it.

Also even in my passion/hobby. I can be a cheap fuck. I mean when I die mrs basso will be taken care of and she would never sell the guns lol.

mrs basso will be taken care of and she would never sell the guns
That's got to be a comforting feeling. If I passed, I know nobody else in my family is as autistic about guns as I am so they'd all probably be sold. The thought of my MK18 going to someone who will put red anodized parts on it is probably part of what keeps me alive so that it never happens.

I can only hope the CMP making new Garands is enough to motivate people to actually buy from them instead of fucking scalpers. Please for the love of fucking God, stop paying 2000+ for a fucking Garand.

Edit: Do y'all think the CMP will ever make one in .223? Would be a nice range toy.
people pay hundreds if not a grand more from scalpers because they're too lazy to fill out paperwork and go to UPS to get it notarized and mailed

This won't stop any of those people who are the majority. This dumb kid I tried helping do the paperwork paid like $2k and got a post war era service grade Garand off GunBroker because he didn't want to fill out paperwork for the CMP.

Haven't shot one yet. Have shot a considerable amount of 30-06 but not sure how it compares. I have a vague notion to hog hunt with it but primarily plink. I may take your advice on the tax stamp and hold off a bit on that.

Bit heftier than a 30-06 but more expensive to shoot. If it's just a plinker, might not be worth the return on investment if you ever want to shoot more than a dozen or so rounds or want to go out past 200 yards.

I have to strongly disagree. I'm actually to the point where I have a much bigger gun boner for classic rifles like leverguns than modern tactical stuff. My first "big gun" was a Winchester 94 in .30-30 Win, and I've loved lever rifles ever since. I definitely want one of the new Marlin 1895 SBLs, but also have a strong desire for a vintage Winchester Model 71 .348 Win and a Winchester 1895 in either .30-06 or .405 Win. And I really dig the Bighorn Armory lever action rifles in .500 S&W and .460 S&W, I just wish they weren't $3k.
I actually endorse the 1895. Like the BLR, modern lever guns with the box magazine and a floating barrel are comparable to the utility of a bolt action.

Also like wise man said... more gun > less gun for options. Fuck it while it's a sin I rather there be a 223 SKS and .380 acp BAR than NOT have those options.

Can't remember who but there's some company out there that does a modern BAR and it's a monster, expensive, and glorious.

Yup, the Ohio Ordnance Works HCAR. It is an awesome piece of machinery. I wish I had gotten one when they were only $3500. I'd love to get one of their WWII style M1918A3 BARs with all wood furniture (can't stand the bakelite stock), but it's $7500, and for that I could get one of those semi-auto FG42s, which is my favorite weapon from WWII. The BAR is a close second, but I still think I'd take the FG42 over the BAR.
