It's not hard to notice. Every Lefty shill without exception will always say US aid because that makes it sound good and helpful and nice and not at all like the propaganda machine it really is. its almost like they're all paid by the same organization or something.

I wanted RFK Jr on Trump's team because I am sick of how unhealthy and FAT Americans are. I am with him 100% for MAHA only.
That is unironically like a top five issue for me, and it's sad how trying to make our country healthier is a party issue at this point.
We just need to stop poisoning the food with who knows what chemicals, we need to significantly reduce childhood obesity and diabetes (it's got so bad we stopped calling Type 2 "adult onset" and now it's "late onset"), we need to reduce adult CVD and related conditions, and that all comes down to our food supply being unfathomable slop.
How we should do that is where the politics come in, but we need to do something and RFK is pretty much the only dude on this mad crusade.

this is the single busiest thread on the site, but the chat we had for politisperging was never used. why is that?
I typically use this thread as a news aggregator at work, and gloss over some of the commentary otherwise(especially the off topic stuff). The only time I would use the chat is during big events, like election night.

The only chat I really use on the farms is the Fishtank one, and only while the show is airing to interact with the only tolerable fans in the FT community(again, using the thread to catch up when I can't watch, which it's kinda bad at)

different formats. plenty of people check in on this thread after 20+ pages and try to respond to stuff 20 pages ago, because of the thread name people treat it like a newspaper and therefore a chat where you would only see the last 100 messages is fucking useless if you're trying to learn about all the big news of the last 12 hours.

also because of how much off topic shit is allowed in this thread its turned into this site's version of /b/ to the point where last general they joked about the 100 pages they discussed captain planet.

The reason other countries can produce them cheaper is cheaper labor. people are willing to work for cheaper because housing is cheaper. If America had better regulated their banks, then housing wouldn't be as expensive as it is. Therefore you wouldn't have to pay your factory workers as much.
I'm not going to get into a discussion about banking with you here, as there is already a thread for such a thing, but you are obviously right about labor costs being the main factor. You cannot get Americans to work for less than $1,000 a month and zero benefits (which is what China does) to make cars when McDonald's offers more.
We have built engines that last forever. Case in point, the 2002 dodge ram 2500, with a cummins engine that will last to nearly a million miles. Apparently we're bringing them back, who knows how the 2025 will compare to the 2002.
I had a '99 Honda Accord that I was forced to give up because I couldn't find spare parts anymore. Not even junkyards had them. Cars from that era were great.

Cars are depreciating assets, which affects the financing. There's no way to get around that, unfortunately.
I personally agree, but I understand why normies want that shit. These things should be luxuries, that people pay more for. Not mandatory in every car, making every car more expensive.
I 100% understand the introduction of vehicle safety standards and, to be honest, even some of the emissions standards. Air quality in the US rapidly improved due to the emissions regulations. The emissions regulations also led to more efficient engines, but that comes at the cost of more electronics throughout the whole vehicle which makes it more expensive to build and maintain. An easing of the emissions regulations and allowing for simpler cars would, I think, improve the market overall, but I say this as someone who just wants a fart box to get me from point A to point B.

You have three generations of people (grandparents, parents, and their only child) pooling together their collective savings to buy these leased apartments, often when they haven't even been built yet.
This is very accurate and a big reason why people think China's economic numbers are all smoke and mirrors. How does Xi Jinping expect his breathtaking economic development to last when the average Chinese family has to pool resources like people in the DRC do?

There is also an increasing amount of agitation in China regarding wages. The people are tired of making shit money for no benefits.
Real estate, prior to the Evergrande collapse in 2020, was the only safe asset class Chinese people could invest in. The stock markets in China are heavily rigged and have crashed several times, cryptocurrency of all kinds were banned by the Xi Jinping administration, and bonds from Chinese state-owned banks are borderline worthless.
These are all reasons why I think China's best days are behind them, at least economically speaking. Xi Jinping fucked up because he's struggling to make China a financial hub. He put a band-aid on it by taking Hong Kong back, but that will only last so long until people get tired of doing business with the Chinese government.

I disagree with China's 70 year state leasing. I think people should be able to own the homes they buy, and pass them to their children.

I think countries work better when people have savings as opposed to debt. The Chinese have an over 40% savings rate, as opposed to the American 3%. I don't think that difference is made because Americans invest in stocks or crypto instead. The average gen-xer is $32,878 in non-mortgage debt, and Gen X homeowners have an average mortgage balance of $245,127. So one country has "generational wealth" and the average American has generational debt.

I'm fine with taking some measures to encourage Americans to save money for home purchases. But when housing inflation is as crazy as what it has been, no one knows how much they need to save over the next few years to be able to get a home.

That's also why many Han Chinese people resorted to speculation by buying second or even third homes on margin in literal wastelands they never intended to move into.
This is a problem. Maybe the state-mortgage-bank only helps with primary residences. If you want to buy a secondary property or an investment property you have to use a private bank or pay cash?

So there are positives and negatives with their system and ours. Maybe a good compromise would be primary residences have a government banked mortgage, but any other real estate is private.

America needs cheaper housing. The issue with American housing is that most people can't afford to buy a house in full even if the prices were not inflated and were reasonable. The issue is America is low trust so it's hard to trust people with that much credit. This means a lot more vetting and less people who qualify for mortgages. This is why America has the credit score system.

Another thing is retired boomers who depend on having a paid off house they can take of HELOCs on forever, these people are a huge share of the electorate due to the baby boomers and them not having kids and they vote and have power if housing were to get cheaper they would be shit out of luck as they are to old and out of the job market to work. From a Machiavellian standpoint it would be in America's best to lower the cost of housing so they lose the ability to pay for things like medications ,preventative medicine and surgeries and therefore can't live as long or collect as much social security.

I also always hated this populist line about how the Banks rugged the people in 2008. I don't disagree that they should have been more careful about how they loaned out money for but it takes two to Tango. The demand for the loans was there because people kept living beyond their means buying things they could not afford. Before the 2000s people always complained that mortgages were gate kept to much and things like the community reinvestment act addressed this.

I think a major part of it is that unhealthiness leads to the sort of mindsets that Democrats operate on.

Fat as fuck? Makes you need things like socialized healthcare and remote work more.
Force-fed estrogenating chemicals like flouride? Makes you emotionally vulnerable and manipulable.
Forced to accept everyone around you being overweight? Makes it easier to accept being flooded with other undesirable out-of-place things like troons, illegals, jeets, or "refugees".
Not physically active? Lower testosterone production, and as a result less mentally independence and more fear of social ostracization.

An unhealthy population is a subservient and dependent population, ripe for being culled and replaced.

It's honestly the silliest thing I've seen the Canadians do in response. "Let's give Americans money to put up billboards in the areas that hate us the most!" The best response was the Canadian politician who said "look, we love Americans and we want a good relationship, but these tariffs are dumb and Canada is a sovereign country that isn't going to be bullied." Too bad the rest of Canada is too fucking deranged to respond in a reasonable fashion.
 
The only way to make housing as cheap as it is in the Third World is to make houses as cheaply as they do in the Third World. That includes the infrastructure. You don't really want that.
It doesn't have to be as cheap as the third world. It just has to be about 3 or 4 years worth of income. As opposed to what it is now.

Canada is not a serious country. I did some calculations to predict the election results based on current polling and it looks like the next election might deadlock politics
Super rough back of the hand math has the conservatives only gaining about 24 seats (3 from BQ, 15 from liberals, 6 from NDP), Green stays the same
So
Liberals: 145
Conservatives: 143
Bloq: 29
NDP: 18
Green: 2
A party or coalition needs 170 seats to have a majority. The left wing Liberals and NDP will only have 163 seats though they may just squeak past the finish line with or without the Green if they don't lose as many seats as projected. The conservatives and bloq are both "right" wing, but the bloq only represents Quebec and don't really get along with the Conservatives.

Generally you can expect that Canada will be too busy infighting to solve it's problems, meaning that the separatist movement may gain steam. A worst case scenario has the Liberals gaining a narrow majority by forming a coalition with the NDP AND the Green, which would force them to cater to the most radical members of each party.

I generally don't expect Trump to talk or try to meddle with Canadian politics during the election, but come April 28th he will probably start making demands and cracking down on Canada to try to make it bend the knee. Expect more stupid bullshit like billboard ads that make peta and graphic pro-life billboards look classy.
