There's another level: there's a record for emulators and a record for the original hardware (Billy used the former to claim the latter, allegedly). And there are refs to oversee everything wearing striped shirts (at least from what I saw of the disputed videos and photos). Then you have folks looking at things called "the finger" and MAME updates from its own website.

The more you talk about it, the dumber it all sounds. And then there's his Pac-Man bullshit that sounds like it makes sense by comparison.

I think you overestimate how well-known Billy Mitchell is. From what I remember, this Twin Galaxies community is pretty damn small and nowhere near getting the pull of things of EVO and CS:GO or Overwatch League. Or ESports.

God I wish that were me.

I hated this guy just because of his grossly misleading headlines. Every 5 days he'd release a new video titled "Silly Bitchen btfo in court by facts and logic???" and if you clicked it, it was just a settlement where Billy got everything he wanted. I don't like this guy at all, but I also don't seeing this guy absolutely ruined in an Aussie court for speech.

You aren't wrong, but everyone in speedrunning circles knew the final thing that pushed Apollo over was DarkViper and EZScape turning on him with "exposed" vids. There's a reason EZScape fucked off for years after the suicide, he knew he was the final push in it.

Defamation rules here are basically if you can't prove it with fact you get slammed.
Its why the FriendlyJordies case is particularly controversial because the politican sueing him is basically witness/evidence tampering to make it seem like factual claims made weren't the case.
Karl woulda been completely fine if he just stayed in his lane on the Kong shit but Billy being the legal cockroach he is worked out he could pin Karl on the Apollo stuff here and went for it.
